Coca Cola Graceland

April 19, 2010 | Other

Fans who had the chance to visit Graceland, may remember the old blue pick-up truck that is parked just in front of the Elvis Sirius Radio Studio at the Graceland Plaza. The truck got a make-over and has now a fresh coat of red paint. The pick-up will be transformed in to a Coca-Cola delivery truck. EPE has made a deal with the soda company. Coca-Cola will be the supplier of sodas in the Graceland restaurants from now on. Without a doubt, this will raise some critical comments, because Elvis was a Pepsi drinker, the biggest competitor of Coca-Cola.

Great idea, Coca Cola....Mickey Mouse and Elvis Presley were America's Gifts to the freeworld in the 20th Century

I like the red color; it will go good with the coke emblem; But Elvis and myself drink pepsi-cola. I guess it's all right as long as the Presley enterprises are making big bucks on it. The Elvis name will sell anything.

I'll always love Elvis and Pepsi! There are five pictures of Elvis drinking from an old time Pepsi-Cola bottle at his home at 1034 Audubon Dr. on July 4, 1956 in Alfred Wertheimer's book 'ELVIS at 21 - New York to Memphis' A lot of great pictures in that book.

Does anyone remember one of the very few commercial ads that Elvis posed for? It was Elvis looking at the camera and holding up a bottle of soda. Does anyone know if it was Pepsie or Coca-Cola? I thought it was Coke.

Though they presumably contain Gatorade or water, Coca-Cola cups are visible on stage during 1977's Elvis In Concert. You can also see one on the piano during the "Unchained Melody" clip on The Great Performances.

Following on from the comments made by Mystery Rider, how cool would it be if EPE and Coca-Cola teamed up in some form of 'American Icons' cross-promotion campaign. Through this association, Elvis would continue to be in the public eye and 'relevant' to a currently untapped new generation of fans.

Well, Elvis couldn't be right all the time. Pepsi? Yuck!

I don't recall ever seeing Elvis & Pepsi adwork, but it sure would be interesting! I'm a solid CocaCola drinker, but really, this isn't about me, it's about Elvis and he was a Pepsi drinker, oh well :) At least I can enjoy MY favorite drink when I'm at Graceland!
