April 13, 2004 | Other
Coca-Cola India announced the launch of Vanilla Coke last week. The Cola company has signed up Vivek Oberoi as the brand ambassador for this new flavour cola. He will use an Elvis Presley look to promote the new flavour in the new campaign which will be rolling out soon.

Seen photographs & the TV advt. etc. UNFORTUNATELY Vivek Oberoi was not the right choice, the Elvis look is totally missing, even the clothes he's made to wear & EVERYTHING else. Possibly, only thing is perhaps the kiss curl hair style - similar to the Elvis hairstyle in "Double Trouble" etc.

Gribz, I'm talking about the ACTUAL news item - Coca Cola Elvis Style in India. I KNOW it's not the same thing that you're talking about.

I totally agree with you Gribz, there are SO MANY GREAT CLIPS that they could have used, that's what I feel BAD about. EPE should not permit use of the Elvis image in this manner (inspite of Vivek Oberoi being one of the top stars in India).

That is real good. Elvis has a look that is universal. Hopefully EPE will sign more deals and get his face out there, so they can prepare for an onslaught of promotion for this 50th Anniv. If they can tie in The new video of Elvis SInging 'If I can dream', in Black leather, it will attract millions and millions of new fans. With the state of the world today, maybe the King can break down the Psychological barriers between some countries. I believe Graceland EPE, and BMG should think real big right now. In the entertainment world, there is ELVIS, then everyone else. Elvis transcends political and cultural boundaries. and has the universal charismatic appeal to make the necessary difference. Right now, the world needs Elvis..

Jill, When you see it, you will flip. He's standing there with his hair down, and sweat dripping from everywhere. Center stage, directing the band when to come in.. It's awesome.. I saw it in Memphis at a preview of the new DVD special. You will see what I mean when you get it in June, or sooner if they use it to advertize...SO much is possible now that can set the pace and future for Elvis.. I hope all the powers that be are doing all lthey can. It will take a coordinated effort among EPE, BMG, and Major sponsors, to do this right, where it can have the broadest positive effect everywhere. For example, it can't operate like the FBI, CIA, and White house. No pun intended.

Sorry,, Unfortunately that's not what I meant. Instead of the usual 'If I can Dream' with Elvis in the White Leisure suit, and hair perfectly Coifed.. We have him in Black Leather, center stage in the round. This is a cut they did, that never was released..Of course all new technology was used in terms of sound and visual quality, but no changes to the structure of the special...

Sorry Zahir, We are not talking about the same thing. You're seeing something else...

I got you Zahir. I was talking about something else. That's too bad, because there are so many great clips they could of used.

Hi GribZ Did they take Elvis Out of the 68 Comeback and put him on a newer stage in todays time thats what I would really like to see. I know we have the technogie to do that. take some of the video from the 68 Comeback and just cut out Elvis and put him with a new background. I see it done all the time today. Is this what you meant in you last reply??
