The coined "King of Rock ‘n’ Roll" will have a city street named in his honor thanks to the passage of resolution at Tuesday’s City Hall meeting in Shreveport. The decision to change Grand Avenue to Elvis Presley Avenue passed in light of one opposing vote by council member Joe Shyne. Presley began his career performing on the Louisiana Hayride in Municipal Auditorium on Grand Avenue.
