So, what's a "blow-in card" ?

Leave it to Walmart & EPE! Our greatest source of imports & epitome of greed in America!

Sounds almost nasty. Talk about marketing. Remember when releases came with Elvis bonus photos, now we get the lovely blow-in card.

He we go a again. Just my oppion but. I Think Sony BMG and EPE need to get serious. i know they are very serious with their ftd's but listen to my plan. i think BMG should start a TOUR COLLECTION, for e.g start remastering and take time in making it the best quality ever for every 1969 show, whether they all pretty much the same or not we will have them, they should release like 1 concert every 2weeks with a special booklet with pictures of that concert (if avaibale) and a little detail. when they finished with 69 and all the concerts have been released with the final issue of 69 u get a free colletion box for that year. Then we do the same for 1970 and so on. it will be the dream of every fan. they won't have to worry about releasing this 1 then tht 1 and see which 1 get's the best review, release the lot. i'd love to work on somehting like this, as a die hard fan, i know what the elvis fans want. what do you guys think ?

burninglove92 - From a marketing/sales point of view, it is probably a smart idea and certainly mor eorganized than what they have been doing. But from a fan of the music point of view, I am not sure. I mean it would start getting pretty dire around 1974 if not sooner. And every release spaced only 2 weeks apart would be a virtually identical concert and set list. I think people would get tired of that pretty fast. At least the way it is now, it's kind of a nice surprise to see what they come out with next. After it is all out we fans can catagorize it by years if we want to. For example, Christmas Duets would go in the "Total Crap" catagory, sub-set "Christmas."

burninglove92 - I cant agree. it is not the wish of this fan to have all those concerts. In fact I have more than I care to listen to now. The 1969 shows which I used to love , all sound the same to me now, even the dialog hardly changes. And if you really want to hear how badly Elvis started to slide, start listening to all the shows from 1974 onward. Not a good idea. I know we are trying to cling onto what little we have left, but I think its time to let the 'I wonder what's coming out next' dream go. 31 years is a long time to be gone. Theres not much that can be done anymore. Enjoy what we have. I wish they would just release all the LPS (not overpriced FTD versions) in upgraded sound and be done with it. And I'd like a DVD anthology done correctly and Elvis On Tour. Simple requests and I think Id be pretty happy then.

Hey, it's just another way for BMG to make an extra buck. The fans who want everything in their collection will buy the reguar edition and the so called Walmart "Special Edition".

I listened to the whole album yesterday and have mixed feelings. Some of the tracks are okay and work kinda well. But others are horrible, especially 'Merry Christmas Baby'. Can't see it doing much in today's market. Wonder what they'll try next? Probably have him making walk-on appearances in movies with Tom Cruise etc. Anything to make a buck. Colonel Parker would be proud.

Steve. i agree,i use to get excited about Ftd releases, but since the classic series took over, ive lost much alot of interest in Ftd as a whole, sure theres still some concerts they might come out with, but since the outtake cd's stopped thanks to the classic series, much of what i like about ftd has been changed, like you,im not happy about buying 70% to 80% of what i already own,i juist dont think thats the way to go for a ollectors label,as for the main label, dont expect any box sets,as for this cd, im not interested, for many of the artost are not my fav,and a couple make me isck to my tummy to hear!

should ready artist and sick to my stomach, ohh those darn typos!

what about the fact that countries like canada, australia, finland get their own version with special bonus tracks...I want them too...
Harvey Alexander wrote on October 10, 2008
Dear tcbmafia - you can get help for such an addiction. Watch my lips: "You don't need all the variations. One copy is more than enough. It's not as if it's unreleased Elvis. It's actually LESS Elvis than you'd usually get. So don't buy all the variations." There, are you cured? You can send me all the money you would have spent on all this garbage as a thank you. I'll send you an Elvis pocket calender in return. Mind you, it'll feature half a photo of Elvis and half a photo of Anne Murray. Is that okay? I also have variations featuring half Elvis and half Olivia Newton John, half Elvis and half Martina McBride...

Its a nice way to keep Elvis, current Recording artist. Some duets work and some don't, but overall its a fun holiday collection !

Although we shop at Wal & K Mart, we'll also stick to originals ! and will NOT buy this Xmas Duets album ! If BMG wants to convince young/new EP fans, then they should NOT use those Dixie gals ... besides, those girls are NOT known anywhere else than in Dixie (NOT worldwide, although some have been on Larry's TV show...)It is another wrong marketing strategy. The very ONLY ONE that should or could have made a difference is Lisa Marie (if she would have been willing to sing those duets with her Dad...but we also would have discouraged her in doing so) But there is an alternative for Wal Mart to generate more sales: they should release (and get authorization from BMG) a CD with Elvis' Silly Hour of those silly but funny/hilareous outtakes of those movie songs like Ito,Beach shack dum dum , Datin', Longlegged jerk with the dress on, etc Will in our opinion sell over 100,000 copies or another idea for Wal Mart is to use such a FREE CD for anyone who buys the upcoming very expensive box of 30 CDs at an absorbitantly high price of US$1,000....BMG will in our opinion NOT sell those 10,000 copies they plan to produce...so in low-sales Jan/Feb period of 2009. Wal Mart and ALL other MUSIC stories in the world will have to DISCOUNT HEAVILY this Box ! Agree with Mature Pal that we do not intend to INSULT anyone here...just plain talk...not everything is fine or great. Circle G and we also still await from Jorgensen&Roger info re the next planned releases such as FTDdigis of GI B, BlueH, KCreole, Roust, KCousins, Speedway and again the long awaited Box 72 Tours!! as well as the PLAND, GTIMES, EPBLVD together with MBUE, NOW, FOOL and American Studios sessions (BMG should buy back master tapes with all those fab outtakes from bootleggers ) without FORGETTING the missing GuitarM, Monkey Buzz sessions and Down Alley, ComeWmay, etc etc from 67-68. ANY ""positive "" COMMENTS ??
