Canadians Biggest Elvis Fans?

January 11, 2003 | People
Canadian devotion to Elvis Presley was recognized at a special ceremony this week at Graceland. Canada led every country but the United States with sales of more than 600,000 copies of the album Elvis: 30 No. 1 Hits, released last September, says BMG Canada.

On a per capita basis, sales were higher in Canada than anywhere else. A plaque to commemorate the six-times platinum certification was unveiled at a ceremony marking what would have been Presley's 68th birthday on Wednesday.

"We were overwhelmed with the response from Canadians to this CD release," Lisa Zbitnew, president of BMG Canada, said in a statement Thursday.
