Bill Porter Appears At Elvis Week August 2006

A legendary figure in the recording industry, sound engineer Bill Porter will address the fans this August during Elvis Tribute Week 2006. Porter recorded nearly all of Elvis’ number one hits upon the King’s return from his tour with the U.S. Army in 1960. Porter traveled with Elvis Presley from 1969–1977 and recorded the Live in Las Vegas shows.

On the occasion of his 75th birthday year, Bill Porter will meet and greet Elvis fans from across the globe at the annual Elvis Insiders Conference August 11th, 12th and 13th. Considered a friend and business associate by Elvis and the Presley family, Bill has remained true to the King’s memory. As well as sharing remembrances of what it was like “in studio” and on the road with the Artist of the Century Mr. Porter will showcase his personal collection of memorabilia acquired over the years. Among the collection will be some of Bill’s business documents, tour Jackets, personal mementos and gifts from Elvis such as jewelry, and more. Selected items on display will be raffled for sale.

In a timeless era that generated some of America’s greatest hits, Bill Porter is recognized as part of an elite group of innovative talent, along with such greats as Fred Foster, Chet Atkins and the A Team, Mr. Bill Porter’s expertise and inventive work at RCA’s Studio B and later at Monument Records, has become historically significant to the craft of audio recording and engineering and is considered an invaluable element in creating what is coined today as the original Nashville Sound.

In addition to his work with Elvis, Porter has recorded many great artists such as Roy Orbison, the Everly Brothers, The Browns, Ann Margaret and Sammy Davis Jr. just to name a few. Some of Bill’s recordings of Elvis include the albums “Elvis Is Back”, “His Hand In Mine”, “Pot Luck”, and “Something for Everybody”. And classic hits such as “Stuck On You”, “Its Now Or Never” and “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”
