Bernard Lansky Died At 85

Bernard Lansky, who along with his brother Guy founded the famous clothier Lansky Brothers, has passed away.
Their store opened at 126 Beale St. in 1946 and quickly became a favorite of celebrities. Perhaps the most famous customer was Elvis Presley who became a loyal shopper when he was just a teenager.
Lansky’s still operates a store inside the Peabody Hotel.
His family says Bernard Lansky died peacefully at his home early this morning. He was 85 years old.
A public funeral service will be held at Baron Hirsch Synagogue at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

I met mr. Lansky in 2004. When i said to him: Please to meet you he simply replied: We have to shake hands first to say we have officially met. So we did. He was a ver nice man with whom you could talk about a lot. He will be missed. Mr. Lansky, may you rest in peace.
