Bernard Lansky, who along with his brother Guy founded the famous clothier Lansky Brothers, has passed away.
Their store opened at 126 Beale St. in 1946 and quickly became a favorite of celebrities. Perhaps the most famous customer was Elvis Presley who became a loyal shopper when he was just a teenager.
Lansky’s still operates a store inside the Peabody Hotel.
His family says Bernard Lansky died peacefully at his home early this morning. He was 85 years old.
A public funeral service will be held at Baron Hirsch Synagogue at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
