On the 8th the Belgian national TV newscast had a very respectful tribute with nice clips and said that Elvis had probably sold over 1 billion records. The greatest record ever. The showbizz magazine "De Rode Loper" was less respectful. They showed a very fat fan in jumpsuit who did stupid moves. Why focus on him? Fortunately they also interviewed intelligent fans. However they said that in his 20 years career Elvis had sold 500 million records. Maybe they didn't count the records sold after his death, but this is very misleading.

I remember reading reports within a couple years after Elvis died, that by 1975 Elvis had sold, according to RCA, 500 million records. Then around the same time reading from MANY sources, that the first 24 hrs. after Elvis died, that worldwide he had sold 20 million records, again thats in 1 day, and followed up w/ the 1 year following his death, he had sold an astounding 100 million!!! For Elvis, and only Elvis, these are believable numbers. So, to have surpassed 1 billion, after an additional 31 yrs. have passed, there would seem to be no doubt that is the number, again believable w Elvis, especially with the vast ocean of material that has been released!!
