Back In The Building

February 28, 2015 | Other

Graceland Presents ELVIS: The Exhibition - The Show - The Experience will debut April 23, 2015, at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Elvis will be back in the building at the same venue, previously known as the International Hotel, where he performed over 600 record-breaking, sold-out shows.

Graceland Presents ELVIS will feature an expansive, permanent exhibition featuring hundreds of artifacts never-before-displayed outside of Graceland. The newly renamed and renovated Elvis Presley International Showroom will present Elvis-themed shows for limited-engagement runs on the very stage where Elvis performed for millions of guests. The debut show at the Elvis Presley International Showroom will be Elvis Experience.

There's a 35-foot tall cutout of Elvis' image touting Presley's first Vegas run at the New Frontier Hotel in April 1956. This cutout, which will be included in the new exhibition, is NOT the original one that was displayed in front of the New Frontier Hotel in April of 1956... regardless of what Graceland claims. There are some obvious differences (and several subtle differences) in the two cutouts. For proof, all anyone has to do is carefully compare the original 1956 photo with the most recent photo. It really makes me wonder if there's anything else they'll have on display that isn't authentic !

I am very disappointed that EPE are using an ETA for the "Elvis Experience Show" when they said they was not going to do so!! Various reports on the web said that a groundbreaking hologram show was going to debut at the hotel but instead EPE have decided to use an "Actor" to portray Elvis, Martin Fontaine who in my opinion looks like a wax dummy.I for one will not be making the trip to Vegas to see an Elvis Impersonator, the exhibition was a bonus to me as i have seen majority of the exhibits at Graceland and i am visiting the ELVIS at the 02 Exhibition in London at the end of this month so i have no need to travel to Vegas a big thumbs down from me unless further down the line they change the show until then i will be staying put!!

The former Hilton is an old Vegas hotel. It is not a prime location for Vegas tourists. Basically, it is a mere shell of what it used to be. It is a very fitting place for Elvis Impersonators. They are usually on stage in the old downtown Vegas casinos, so this will be a minor step up for them.

The issue with the huge cut-out image of Elvis was resolved. It will be put on display as a "replica" of the original sign used in front of the New Frontier Hotel in April of 1956. I salute ElvisPresleyEnterprises for taking care of business the right way... this time.
