Australian fans should check their local record stores as both "Hitstory" and the #1 Singles boxset (RRP $129.95) have been released. The 3CD Hitstory comes complete with a special fold-out Elvis poster booklet. The RRP is A$39.99. Australia is receiving the European edition of "Hitstory" with 12 additional tracks. The "Christmas Wishes" CD is scheduled for release by BMG Australia on Monday 14 November.
The 10 Network has a double treat for Elvis fans on 6 November. That night's episode of Australian Idol (6.30pm) will be an Elvis special, and following at 7.30pm is the Elvis "mini-series" telecast earlier this year in the US. Disappointingly, the 10 Network has elected to edit the originally two-part mini-series by excising around 30 minutes of footage so it can screen on the one night.
Warner Home Video will release two DVD sets, "The Elvis Collection Volume 1 and 2" in Australia on November 16. Each set will contain four Elvis movies. The Elvis Collection Volume 1 will contain: Harum Scarum, Speedway, Jailhouse Rock and The Trouble with Girls. The Elvis Collection Volume 2 will contain It Happened at the World’s Fair, Viva Las Vegas, Spinout and Double Trouble.
On December 1, Paramount Home Entertainment will release the Elvis Jukebox Movie Collection, featuring eight Elvis Movies: King Creole, Blue Hawaii, GI Blues, Roustabout, Fun In Acapulco, Paradise Hawaiian Style, Girls! Girls! Girls! and Easy Come, Easy Go. This set will be limited to 25.000 copies.
Below the cover art of the upcoming "The Elvis Collection Volumes 2" which differs from the European edition. The cover of volume one is the same the cover of volume 2 of the European edition.
SonyBMG Australia is promoting the 3CD boxset, Hitstory, through an extensive media marketing campaign. The campaign will include three week's of television advertising in major capital cities and regional areas commencing thisweek. Ads on Pay TV will run from this week for a fortnight and there will be a two week campaign on metropolitan radio stations. BMG is considering other promotional activities including press advertising and spots on programs such as Sunrise and Mornings with Kerri-Anne.
The 3CD boxset, Hitstory, has debuted at #11 on the store chart of Australia's largest record chain, Sanity. Two other albums debuted higher than Hitstory, the new Robbie Williams album, Intensive Care, at #1 and Destiny's Child #1's at #6. Traditionally Elvis has done better on the Sanity chart than the official Australian chart from ARIA, and if this holds true it could be a case of "history for Hitstory". The ARIA chart will be issued late on Sunday night.
