Auction Results

March 26, 2009 | Other

The eyes of Elvis fans all over the world where focused on the more than 500 lots, from vinyl albums to personal items and apparel that belonged to Elvis. The auction house Heritage held a similar auction a few weeks ago, with disappointing results, although there were a few hot Elvis items included in the auction. Highlights in this auction where the blue/gold jumpsuit from the Madison Square Garden concert, the white grand piano that once stood in the music room in Graceland and a combination of a black pants and shirt that Elvis use in his free time. The auction ended last night with a result that was a lot better than the Heritage auction. Many items were sold for a price that was much higher than the estimated values.

It is all about good items with good documentation. The Elvis owned market has steadily risen over the years while other investments went south. For example, just ten years ago at Graceland's auction you could get a jumpsuit for $60,000 now they are $200,000-$300,000. Most items have doubled, tripled, and more in the last 10-15 years.
