Today we receive the announcement and some sample pictures of Volume 4 in the great "American Way"-series:
Tired of press releases promising a lot but in reality delivering very little? We are.
So we won't waste your time with cheap PR talk here. If you have the first three volumes in the 'American Way' series you'll know what to expect from this new one.
For those who don't see the significance of the cover photo or the connection to the musical contents, perhaps a little explanation is in order. The photo, taken by famous Memphian Robert "Bob" Williams, shows Elvis, Red West and cousin Junior Smith cruisin' on Main Street on a summer night in 1956. It was on Main and Beale that the teenage/ young adult Elvis Presley absorbed and soaked up the musical sounds of the City of Memphis. These influences shine through in some of his best ever studio recordings laid down in his hometown. Sun, American Sound, Stax...those recordings echo the sound of the City of Memphis.
Also a little different is that part of the 16-page bonus booklet is devoted to '50s RCA paperwork, rare photos of the studios he recorded in and unseen pix of Elvis and Scotty at Radio Recorders - all under the heading 'Another Place, Another Time'.

Ftd could put out such products but choose not to,and by that i mean the quality,to think a collectors label give u nothing but a digi pack and no liner notes to me is amazing, although these sessions are not my fav i know for many fans they are,and these releases have the high quality to which all products should be judged, great work all the way around!

just recieved my copy from the excellant now dig this magazine and very impressed indeed!-the studio banter is amazing and the xrated lrics from elvis is very funny to jear, tje amount of times he says "dear goergie" is hyserical and very enjyable to listen to!,what makes vol 4 the best out of the series so far is the sepurb stereo sound and the studio chat..far better than any previous import cd's!..all in all,a welcome release and possibly the best cd out of the series so far/..all in all,a welcome release and puts to shame the rca/ftd lable..10 out of 10.(come on rca/ftd start releasing stuff like this and the fans would lap it up)
