Alvin Records Elvis

Love them or hate them, Alvin and the Chipmunks are the number one kids musical act of all time. They were created in the 1950s by speeding up the human voice to make novelty records and Alvin, Simon and Theodore (all named after Liberty Records executives) had a string of hits from the Chipmunk song to a variety of cover records, even their own TV show. Fifty years later, the Grammy Award winning little dudes are still going strong with an upcoming movie and now a video game which features their own rendition of Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel among 40 other songs that include covers of REM’s Shiny Happy People and All The Small Things from Blink 182.

I have the vinyl too. Great memories at Christmas that get handed down thru generations. I even remember seeing them & David Seville on the Ed Sullivan SHow!

When I was a child back in the '50s I loved the Chipmunks. I still have original vinyl copies of their 2 Christmas albums. Of course, I have cd versions of same. My grandson (age 5) likes the Chipmunks, too. Especially at Christmastime. Somtimes just for the heck of it I'll play the albums instead of the cds. He gets a real kick out of that.
