A Divorce At Audubon Drive

September 30, 2005 | People
Mike Freeman and Cindy Hazen, the owners of Elvis' former home at 1034 Audobon Drive in Memphis are going to divorce. The State Review Board approved the nomination to the National Register of Historic Places just last week and now it moves on — just as Graceland did in 1991 — for approval at the national level.

Mike Freeman confirmed the sad news and informed us that he and Cindy will discontinue tours of Audubon Drive until further notice. But Mike will continue to do driving tours of Memphis and Tupelo. He also stated "I don't know what the future will hold either for us or for our ownership of this house. It seems likely though that we will sell it next Spring."

Now that's a shame. Mike and Cindy are both really good people, hope you guys keep it friendly, try not to listen to the lawyers too much - they'll have you in court for months arguing over who owns the door mat.

Well Mike I just had my divorced finalized I racked up about $5,000 in attorneys fee's and I still have to pay her Child support, of course she got custody, The House, and I got to keep all of the back taxes that were owed I sure am glad I hired an attorney. I thought it was because she wasn't an Elvis fan, but I guess even 2 fans can only stand each other for so long. Well at least I kept my Elvis Collection. Really I am sorry to hear about it, a sad thing.

I am truly saddened by this news. I had the pleasure of touring the house on Audubon a few years ago, and spending some time with Mike and Cindy. It's a shame this is happening to such nice people. I will certainly keep both of them in my prayers as they go through this difficult time in their lives.
