Wonderful World

Words & Music: Guy Fletcher Doug Flett

This is a wonderful day
It's as bright as a day's ever been
There is a big yellow sun looking down
On a wonderful scene

Up in the blue sky birds fly
And sing our cares away
And out of each throat each note
Greets a wonderful day

There is the sound of a symphony
Carried along on the breeze
Even the flowers are swaying in time
With the leaves on the trees

Heaven is found right here on the earth
It surrounds us in the wonderful things all around
In this wonderful wonderful
Wonderful wonderful world

This is a wonderful day
It's as bright as a day's ever been
There is a big yellow sun looking down
On a wonderful scene

Heaven is found right here on the earth
It surrounds us in the wonderful things all around
In this wonderful wonderful
Wonderful wonderful world
Wonderful world, this wonderful world
Wonderful world, this wonderful world
Wonderful world, this wonderful world

I always liked this song, don't know why, really but I always did. Just a happy song I guess. I felt the later movie songs were so much better than the mid-60s.

A song that really had hit potential had it been released as a single in 1968. This would have fit on the charts right along side Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World", Petula Clark's hits, etc. Elvis is in fine voice and fills this song with warmth. This one just makes you feel good.

This, perhaps oddly, is one of my all-time favorite Elvis songs. I love every song from this movie, but this track especially. I wonder if it was just that it sounded like more strings or fuller orchestration was used on this song (and "Almost in Love" and "Edge of Reality"....and "Charro" and "Almost" all from this great time period). Whatever the case, this is a great song--almost belongs in a Disney movie (in the best possible way...I just mean the imagery, with blue skies and singing birds and swaying flowers. It's a beautiful, wonderful song.)

One of My Favorites. This song makes a rainy day, sunny. Such a great performance.

Bizarrely of all of Elvis' movie songs this was the only one that was ever in the running for an Oscar nomination. Mind you as it was 1964 it was up against the musical highlight that was "Chim Chim Cher-ee" from Mary Poppins. When Dick Van Dyke beats you in a song contest you know it's time to get out of the movie soundtrack business and back to rock and roll! LOL! Apart from that I do like this song. It has a nice feel.

I love this one also. Such a major change from the mid 60's movie songs. This one had a comtemporary breezy feel to it. Not hit material but good stuff. Dont confuse this one with Its A Wonderful World from Roustabout!

A very unusual song and recording, I like this one.

Yes much superior to the almost identically named song from Roustabout. Makes you feel good and the world a better place on each hearing, and must qualify as one of his best film tracks from the mid-latter 60's.

A feel good song that breezes along.A fairly unusual arrangement for Elvis that is.

This is such a beautiful ballad and it definitely should be much better known than it actually is. I've never skipped it. It's from my sixth most favorite Elvis motion picture "Live A Little, Love A Little". I love all four songs from that movie.

Good song from a fun movie. Hopefully we'll see a soundtrack from this film on FTD.

I just discovered whistling in the intro of the song. A very lovely song. Everything is okay when I hear this song.

It's no wonder that Elvis sang this particular song with such feeling... as it was the very first song recorded by Elvis after the birth of his daughter, Lisa Marie.

A real oddity but truly beautiful, I love it. A real feel good tune, this was a very happy time for Elvis both personally and in his career.

I'd like to see Sony Legacy issue a new CD aimed at parents and their children titled "Baby, Your Love's Been A Long Time Coming" with liner notes explaining writer Rory Bourke's original intentions of the title song, and the liner notes could also make mention about "Wonderful World" being the very first song Elvis recorded professionally after his daughter, Lisa Marie, was born. The feel-good tracks (mostly intended for the entertainment of children) could include the following 14 songs . . . 1- Your Love's Been A Long Time Coming, 2- Wonderful World, 3- Shout It Out, 4- Barefoot Ballad, 5- A Dog's Life, 6- Slicin' Sand, 7- Sand Castles, 8- Datin', 9- Your Time Hasn't Come Yet Baby, 10- Because Of Love, 11- Have A Happy, 12- Sing You Children, 13- I'll Be There, 14- There's A Brand New Day On The Horizon

I've loved this song from the moment I first heard it over the opening credits of 'Live A Little, Love A Little'. A happy, feel good song. 5 stars.

One of my all time favourites. I prefer the movie version when Elvis repeats the last phrase Wonderful World in the same high key. Just makes everything feel okay. I wish it was more known to the public. Maybe it will be used in a commercial one day! 5 stars
