We'll Be Together

Rating:
3.6 / 5

Words & Music: Charles O'Curran Dudley Brooks

Oh I will never forget the first night we met
Was love I was searching for
My heart beat faster and faster, oh so much faster
Faster than it did before

Juntos estaremos
Siempre por siempre
Junto a mi corazo'n
Siempre estara's

We'll be together, and love forever
Nothing can change our destiny

I knew the moment I kissed you, couldn't resist you
Together we belong
And then I knew in that moment just what this glow meant
True love had come along

We'll be together, ever and ever, close to my heart
You'll always be.
We'll be together, and love forever
Nothing can change our destiny

Strictly film sap. I cant listen to it.

A movie song along the lines of "Tonight Is So Right For Love" from "G.I. Blues" and "No More" from "Blue Hawaii", but a little weaker than those two. This one is from the movie "Girls! Girls! Girls!" and it is pleasant, but not overly memorable.

Pleasant in the movie and on the soundtrack Recording.

Nice tune with catchy guitar play. However Elvis voice does not sound natural on the high notes, like he is hurting his vocal cords. Hardly ever listen to this song as a result. Two stars from me.

These kinds of songs took away the soul & spirit of Elvis Presley. Where was the cooking band he should have had and the best material available? Oh yes, the Colonel was around to see to it that he became a Hollywood softie. A stinker of a song & LP save for RTS and 1 or 2 others.

Harmless but unmemorable movie filler from a time when Elvis should have changed his movie direction.

Granted, not his best material. But, he made the most of it, and thankfully, later on, did those amazing recording sessions in Memphis, in 69.

I love this song!

Oh dear Why??? I am not keen on this one at all. I so wish Elvis had taken one look at the song screwed up the lyric sheet and thrown it in the bin where it belongs. Obviously that did not happen but on the plus side a genius invented the skip button. Sorry a dud far from what we know Elvis was capable of .

While growing up a friend of mine knew I was really into Elvis (basically because of 1956-61). Anyway he bought this LP along with me at the record store. It was his first and last Elvis album until the Memphis LP. With duds like this, its no wonder Elvis is known basically as a singles artist. This was the start of the mostly bad soundtrack albums.

Well it might not have been rock and roll but I like the Spanish Latino Elvis, and he recorded enough of these type of songs to fill an album. He appeared to enjoy singing them and it suited his voice timbre.

This is such a beautiful, underrated and overlooked song and Elvis' rendition of it was excellent. Songs like this gave Elvis' song catalog more variety and I'm glad that there were some songs that Elvis sang in foreign languages. I really enjoy hearing Elvis sing in foreign languages.

Luckily I've got a very broad taste in music. That makes me capable of enjoying a bigger part of the Presley catalogue. My tastes go from Mistery Train via Moonlight Swim and We'll be together to I'll never fall in love again. We'll be Together is on my car playlist and it sits between The Doors' Love me Two Times and Warren Zevon's Carmelita. And what a joy it is to be able to appreciate all three of them.

The authors are musical director O'Curran & pianist Brooks, who also wrote Mama. I once read that the session guitarplayers couldn't play the intro, so outside guitarists were ordered in, but as one session guitar player was jazz ace Barney Kessel, that seems highly unlikely. We'll be together was recorded before the actually sessions in March, date unknown. It featured other guitar players than on the session, namely Robert Bain & Alton Hendrickson. The backing vocals were by The Amigos. Jorgensens book Complete Recording Sessions claim that Elvis overdubbed his vocals later, which isn't true, because there are alternate takes, where Elvis stops midsong. Why does Elvis sing Spanish in a movie that takes place in Hawaii? An enjoyable song with great fast guitar playing.

Girls Girls Girls was a great Elvis movie. We'll be Together fit the movie. The movie Heartbreak Hotel saw the 1972 Elvis revert back to his 50s persona for one night. If Elvis had stayed in the 50s for the remainder of his career, he would have been perceived as more out of step than was actually the case. The 60s movies provided Elvis a haven during the British Invasion, and opened the door to the 68 Comeback.

At this point in his career Elvis should have said that's enough, time to move on to better things, sadly he didn't have the balls to do so and we were left with a legacy of of sub standard Elvis from here until 1968 when he decided the plot could change. Not good, not too but hardly worthy of the King of Rock N Roll either.

From the "Girls! Girls! Girls!" soundtrack album, released back in 1962, one of my favorites although we have the usual tacky fluff included. This song is not one of them, however. An innocuous track at best, but acceptable.
