3.9 / 5

Words & Music: Helen Hemmel Harry Clarke

Hmmm.....
And all the world go free
Now there's a cross for everyone
And there's a cross for me
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
(where are the words) wonder proclaim
And the paint upon the wall
Will go straight ??
In the light of his wonderful face

Some original words: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. But I think Elvis sings "His wonderful face" in the last line!

It's a pity that Elvis didn't do this one properly. It just sounds beautiful.

Just beautiful. Wish there had been a proper recording made of this one.

It's so unfortunate that Elvis didn't do a proper recording of this beautiful gospel gem. So, I had to rate Elvis' short jam performance of it just 1 star.

I just today noticed that the very first part he sings isn't "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" but another hymn called "Must Jesus Bear The Cross Alone". Looks like RCA/Sony didn't/hasn't caught it. So the whole thing is actually a medley of three songs not only two :)?
