The Yellow Rose of Texas/ The Eyes of Texas

Rating:
2.7 / 5

Words & Music: Fred Wise Randy Starr John Sinclair

Oh the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl I love
Her eyes are even bluer than Texas skies above
Her heart's as big as Texas and wherever I may go
I'll remember her forever because I love her so

There are so many roses that bloom along the way
But my heart's in Amarillo and that's where it will stay
With the yellow rose of Texas so I'd better get there fast
'Cause I know I was her first love and I want to be her last

Oh the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl I love
Her eyes are even bluer than Texas skies above
Her heart's as big as Texas and wherever I may go
I'll remember her forever because I love her so

The eyes of Texas are upon you all the live long day
The eyes of Texas are upon you, you cannot get away
Do not think you can escape them at night or early in the morn
The eyes of Texas are upon you 'till Gabriel blows his horn

The eyes of Texas are upon you all the live long day
The eyes of Texas are upon you, you cannot get away
Do not think you can escape them at night or early in the morn
The eyes of Texas are upon you 'till Gabriel blows his horn

The eyes of Texas are upon you all the live long day
The eyes of Texas are upon you, you cannot get away
Do not think you can escape them at night or early in the morn
The eyes of Texas are upon you 'till Gabriel blows his horn

Thee Yellow Rose of Texas was one of the melodies on my first melody watch and almost two decades later it was my first ringtone on my first cellphone. Between them I taped it from radio by Elvis and liked to singalong with it

To great songs combined into one. Elvis must've remembered The eyes of Texas from the James Dean movie Giant, as he was a big Dean fan.

Unlike most songs from this movie, just film fodder. Very enjoyable in the specific scene where it is featured but not an entirely successful vinyl transfer.

I remember the 'Yellow rose of Texas' from the early 59's, can't remember who sang it, but as a kid I enjoyed it, however, Elvis should have left this one alone.

Always brings a smile to my face hearing this fun Texas medley. Four stars.

Not one I can listen to without watching the film. Hard to believe they found a scene for this song and not some of the other songs recorded for the film like Night Life which was much better.

Sing-along movie tune, I dig it myself. Enjoy the 2009 CD edition of Viva Las Vegas nonetheless after all these years. Sing with me, "Oh the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl I love..." Now, if you will, I'm off to hear this wonderful snappy set of tunes.
