Tender Feeling

Rating:
4.4 / 5

Words & Music: Bill Giant Bernie Baum Florence Kaye

I can't conceal the tender feeling
Now that you are close to me
I look at you with tender feeling
And can't help kiss you tenderly

I offer you a true devotion
All life through my love I vow
For this is real, this sweet emotion
This tender feeling I have now

Somehow I knew from the moment our lips first met
You'd be the girl I could never forget
No other love could be appealing
I loved you right from the start
And with each kiss I'll keep revealing
The tender feeling in my heart

Not a bad song from a very bad soundtrack.

A good ballad from the movie and soundtrack "Kissin Cousins". Not a four star song (the rating it has as I write this), but 3 to 3 1/2 stars sounds about right. This is by far the best song on side A of the LP and it is unfortunately the last song on the side. This means you have to sit through five mediocre and/or poor songs to get to it. There should have been a "Kissin' Cousins" EP, not LP and the only songs should have been this one, "Once Is Enough", "Anyone" and "There's Gold In The Mountains". Maybe "Catchin' On Fast" could be included and that means other than the single "Kissin Cousins", the other four songs would not have been released.

How did this beauty end up on such a bad soundtrack to such a bad movie? Whatever the reason, I'm glad to have it. A surprisingly "tender" ballad, sung perfectly by Elvis--who could always rise to the occasion when they accidentally gave him a good song to sing. I am a movie soundtrack apologist for Elvis, mostly. But Kissin Cousins was pretty dire, so this gem shines even brighter next to stuff like "Smokey Mountain Boy".

This is a great ballad that should have been on a studio 60's LP instead of a bad movie album. To think of some of the gems the Colonel or RCA held back to later turn up on Camden albums, when we had such dire songs released from this film on a real RCA LP. Boggles the mind. For those around in 1964, RCA held a huge promotional campaign for this album with even a special insert in Billboard magazine. I remember store banners, flyers, radio ads for the movie. You would think it would have been the greatest Elvis release ever until you got it home. Yes, a good EP maybe.

Love the song. Enjoy the soundtrack. Like the movie. NOTHING "Elvis" made a bigger impression on me when I was growing up than seeing him on the silver screen.

This is a beautiful song, end of.

Pleasant song on the first true soundtrack turkey in my opinion (GGG wasn't greatbut there were better songs on it at least) Most of the songs on KK were at best boring and at worst downright poor. Tender Feeling is certainly one of the better numbers but even then it's not a tune that would ever get excited about. Not too keen on the instrumentation, expecially the piano which becomes annoying after a while. On a positive note, it's better than Bafefoot Ballad. lol.

A nice song, beautifully sung by Elvis. The Kissin' Cousins soundtrack featured some hidden gems. "Tender Feeling" being one of them, and another being, the "bonus song""Echoes of Love", among a few more. RCA Records, could go back and pull out the best and overlooked and not commerically availble songs, from the movies, (including the famous soundtrack bonus songs), remaster and remix, and release a few new CD collections., for the general public. For example, another Love collection called: Elvis-Are you Lonesome Tonight-CD. The set should mix Elvis well known and lesser known songs. Songs on the set: "Are you Lonesome Tonight"-"Please, don't stop Loving me" (From Frankie and Johnny) "Tender Feeling" (Kissin Cousins) "Can't Help Falling in Love" (Blue Hawaii) "So Close, yet so Far" (Harum Scarum), "Pocketful of Rainbows" (G.I. Blues), Never Ending (bonus Track), This is my Heaven (bonus track-Paradise Hawiian Style),Echoes of Love (Bonus Track-Kissin' Cousins), You don't know me (Clambake-bonus Track) and so on. They could do a nice pop and Rock sets too. Just a thought.

I really like this balad, from the very first day I heard it. As a youngster I loved to watch Elvis movies. For two reasons: it was fun watching Elvis and secondly it was musical-like (not heavy movie stuff, which I don't like even now-a-days). Most of the songs in the movies are related to the situation. Some however stand out on its own. And of course I first heard the songs and later the movies. This is one of them. Beautiful.

This song is delivered with so much feeling and is a true hidden gem on the Kissin Cousins soundtrack album. This could easily have been on a studio album or single B-side. Great performance. Four stars from me.

I've just played my original vinyl of this "soundtrack" and i had no problem sitting trough those songs except the both nr2 songs on both sides, they are worth no more than 2 stars. This song is easily 4 stars.

This beautilul ballad is an arrangement taken from the Musical Shenandoah. Elvis made a truely touching version of it

Most girls would throw you into their bed ( not onto the ground as in the movie ) if you sang this to them , it wouldn´t hurt if you looked like Elvis also ( and were a man of course ) .

This is such a beautiful ballad and it's easily one of Elvis' very best movie songs from the 1960's. In my opinion, this is the best song from the "Kissin' Cousins" soundtrack album.

Yes this was a gem from the Kissin Cousins album. A beautiful ballad that I never tire of hearing and sung to perfection by our boy.

A pleasant ballad, I'd love to hear some of these songs with an orchestral backing they would sound good

Great song. Find myself singing it at work all the time. One of best 1960s movie ballads

From what I remember as I really don't listen to Elvis soundtracks all that often anymore, is this tune in particular, isn't all that bad; as a matter of fact, I personally like the album "Kissin' Cousins" overall.

Sung with tender feeling. :) Just because it's from a soundtrack, doesn't make it bad.

The musical arrangement of "Tender Feeling" is based on the song "Shenandoah". "Tender Feeling" is probably more well known for being the second song on the 1972 Camden album, "Burning Love" . . .
Jim Davidson wrote on January 12, 2017
It's a great song from a second rate movie. Burning Love and Tender Feeling deserved better than reissue on a budget LP.
TheMemphisFan wrote on January 12, 2017
There was nothing wrong with the budget LP idea by RCA in the early '70s. The problem was the poor random list of songs they chose to be on some of those LPs. Weak songs such as Guadalajara, Santa Lucia, and I Love Only One Girl didn't do anything to make the Burning Love album appealing. "Tender Feeling" was acceptable along with a few of the other movie songs on that "Hits From His Movies" album, but the real issue is that the title song "Burning Love" should have been placed on a Victor LP, not a Camden LP. RCA also did a very poor job with their song selections for the 1st volume of "Hits From His Movies"... Confidence, Old MacDonald, Down By The Riverside, Long Legged Girl (already released on the "Almost In Love" Camden LP).
