Ho jump down, spin around, let's have a party
Look who's back, Stay Away Joe
Chock taw, chick a Shaw, gonna drink me hearty
Welcome back, Stay Away Joe

Stay Away Joe they call me
Stay Away Joe oh yeah!
But if you need me call me
Hoop and a holler and I'll be there
Ho!

Who keeps turnin' up like a bad penny
Take one guess, Stay Away Joe
Always findin' trouble a-plenty
Oh my yes, I reckon you know

Stay Away Joe they call me
Stay Away Joe oh yeah!
But if you need me call me
Hoop and a holler and I'll be there
Ho!
Ho!

When two lips are right for the pickin'
Who crops up
I love them and leave them screamin' 'n kickin'
Giddy up look at him look at him go

Stay Away Joe they call me
Stay Away Joe oh yeah!
But if you need me call me
Hoop and a holler and I'll be there
Ho!
Hey!

The harmonica is played by Charlie McCoy. The fiddle by Gordon Terry. I think it's a fun track from a fun movie. My favourite Elvis-movie-scene is Elvis on a old Triumph motorcycle riding through the desert & mud. Super cool. He looked better then anyone else ever in this movie.

An energetic hoedown that has some merits but you can almost hear Elvis wanting to laugh at having to sing the thing.
Passable as movie fodder, but not a lot more to recommend it other than the harmonica.

A fun movie song which worked well in the context of the movie and the scene. However, the song Stay Away is by far a better song. I remember instantly falling in love with Stay Away when I first saw Stay Away, Joe.

Like the song like the movie. Ok maybe Elvis not at his most creative I agree but movie and song both alright in my book.

Its a fun movie song. But, the songs "Stay Away" and "All that I needed was the Rain" was the better songs from the movie however.

I mistakenly gave this song a five star rating, but while it isn't close to a five star song, it isn't all that bad. I would give it two or two and 1/2 stars. The title song for Elvis' 26th movie is a short, crazy, frantic little song that Elvis delivers in style.
