Silent Night

Words & Music:
Joseph Mohr/ Franz GruberSilent night, holy night.
All is calm, all is bright.
'Round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant so tender and mild.
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night.
Shephards quake at the sight.
Glorious strains from Heaven afar
Heavenly ghosts sing alleluia.
Christ the Saviour is born,
Christ the Saviour is born. Recorded:
1957/09/06, first released on
Elvis' Christmast albumReactions
A beautiful song. A pity he didn't record this again in 1960 and again in 1971.
A beautiful carol sung with great sincerity, simplicity and feeling. I find this a joy to listen to at any time of the year.
Elvis sings this classic with great feeling and warmth. My mother told me that my grandmother's two favorite Christmas songs were "Blue Christmas" and "Silent Night" both by Elvis. She died six years before I was born.
I like it. Nice & simple. I think you all need a new program. I commented on songs over 2 years ago and have never seen them appear once. Your random program seems to pick the same songs over & over.
Elvis is in great voice for this, it's a lovely recording. Shakin' Stevens does a great doo wop version of this song and is well worth seeking out.
I have always liked Elvis' version of this Christmas carol. The Duet's version is good too.
I listened to this one once. Just after buying the LP. At least it has Elvis' voice. That makes it one star.
A faithful, sincere rendition of the Christmas standard. Not a highlight on Elvis' first Christmas LP; but still a nice track.
