Love Me

Rating:
4.6 / 5

Words & Music: Jerry Leiber Mike Stoller

Treat me like a fool,
Treat me mean and cruel,
But love me.

Wring my faithful heart,
Tear it all apart,
But love me.

If you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
I'll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.

I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine

Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
I'll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.

I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine

Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
Beggin' on knees,
All I ask is please, please love me
Oh yeah

a Key song in Elvis' career took more serious in the 50's and his performance on the sullivan show with this song was unique and fab. The Later years elvis would use this song as a fun and funky, and in 71 - 75 he would use his powerhouse voice to close the song. 5 stars TCB

Stone solid classic. Listen to that vocal. The ballads in the 70's had too much going on and Elvis himself was over the top on many of them(think Sound Of Your Cry). This is one of his best. I like the 50's version the best. Didnt care for the 70's concert throwaway scarve versions. 1968 was good also,

When I was fourteen I recorded this song from the radio at the beginning of a tape. Just to be able to rewind it to listen this song over and over again

One of only a handful of '50s songs I haven't grown tired of hearing over the past 50+ years. A classic. 5 stars.

one of my favourites from the 50's. the 68 version is allright too, but the studioversion from '56 is so good! So much blues! Its a pity the 70's-versions are throwaways.

Even Elvis knew it was a classic! And he always gave it some good renditions in his live settings! It IS a classic in his own original recording! Imo it rates up there among Hound Dog, Don't Be Crue, All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock....and you know...!

One Of my favorite all-time Elvis Ballads. A True Masterpiece. It's hard to believe that Lieber/Stoller Originally wrote this song as a comic piece For a Television show as it was meant to be a parody. Only Elvis could turn something that was meant to be funny into something so Beautifull...Bravo Elvis...Our Man Did it Again!

Fabulous from the fifties. A gem that touched the heart of the people. Obviously Elvis felt the same as he incorporated it in his shows decades later. He has that unique ability to express the sentiment so well. Of course this song is better suited for this than Hound Dog. Hence the performances in the seventies are in general taken more seriously than the latter.

Definitely one of my many favorites...always has been! I think it was one of El's favorites too, as he did it well his entire life and never seemed to tire of it.

Pure magic from Elvis.10 stars. Very moody effect it must have had in the studio,it certainly comes over on the LP.

A comic song brought as a serious song as only a young man can do, but this is one of the few ballads from the 50s that is really good. However, Elvis his best ballads are from the early 60s when his voice was supreme. Nevertheless, four stars.

Love his 50s version of this song. Later it became a "staple" in his Live shows, but never done with as much feeling as the 50s version.

I love the studio version but the 1968 live version was better. One of the reasons Elvis is "The King" is because he was able to do take his recordings and make them greater performing them to a live audience.

This is such a magnificent song and Elvis easily has the very best renditions of it. It rightfully was a massive hit for Elvis worldwide and it's yet another masterpiece written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It's one of so many signature songs for Elvis.

Sang it to the very end and an excuse to throw the scarves and give a kiss here and a kiss there. The original was never topped in his career, while the Ed Sullivan show performance was a mini masterpiece.

When Robert Plant left the hotel room Elvis stayed in, he turned his head around and sang "treat me like a fool", after which Elvis joined in. What a perfect ballad. I like the 1968 & 1973 versions too.

Loved the 1956 studio version and that classic album.Got a little tired of Elvis' seemingly embarrassment of his earlier work, and the way he toyed with it.

Classic Elvis Presley, no ifs, ands or buts. A 1956 ballad that is one of Elvis' finest.
