Let Us Pray

Rating:
4.1 / 5

Words & Music: Ben Weisman Buddy Kaye

Come praise the Lord for He is good
Mmm come join in love and brotherhood
We'll hear the word and bring our gifts of bread and wine
And we'll be blessed beneath the sign

So let us pray together, pray together
Pray with the one mighty voice (heavenly voice)
And let us sing together, sing together
Pray and we'll rejoice (we'll rejoice)

When strangers reach out for your hand (for your hand)
Respond to them and understand (heaven obeyed to understand)
We'll rise as one to calm the storm outside the gate (calm the storm)
With faith in Him we'll never leave (never leave)

So let us pray together, pray together
Pray with the one mighty voice (heavenly voice)
And let us sing together, sing together
Pray and we'll rejoice (we'll rejoice)

(We'll rejoice)
The love of God is on our side (love is, love is on our side)
We have the strength to move the tide (we'll move the tide)
The world will say so, there'll be peace and love for all (love for all)
And we must give our brothers love

So let us pray together, pray together
Pray with the one mighty voice (heavenly voice)
And let us sing together, sing together
Pray and we'll rejoice (we'll rejoice)

Love for all, love for all to the Lord
We'll rejoice love for all to the Lord
We'll rejoice love for all to the Lord
We'll rejoice for the Lord

Good gospel song and fabulous scene in the movie, one of his best filmed songs.

Sorry can't stand this one at all.

Nothing special about this song, but at least a decent 'good feeling' song marked the end of Elvis his movie career. Mary Tyler Moore and the above average movie script make Change of Habit one of his most enjoyable movies. Three stars for this happy recording and don't forget this Sunday... Let us pray!

I give three stars for his beautiful voice, but I always skip this song. Just like the movie.

At last a movie song that Elvis must have enjoyed doing. Maybe not in the same league as 'Minds' or 'Ghetto' but then they were gems. However, lost on a makeshift Lp.

Greatly underrated! Would've been a hit on the gospel charts if RCA would promoted it enough.

This is such a beautiful, underrated and overlooked song and it's the best song from the movie "Change Of Habit" for sure.

Amen! I love this song!

I always enjoy the film scene with this song more than I do the actual recording. His love of gospel music shines right through on this track as it does on nearly all of his spiritual numbers.

I actually like this and ALL the songs on Change of Habit

Great song which I would have given 5 stars (insted of 4), if it had been a little faster. For some reason it actually sounds faster when I see it in the movie. By the way, all the songs in the movie are really good, and especially the title song should have been a bigger hit.

Top-notch upbeat gospel song from the movie "Change Of Habit". I loved this song when I first heard it on the LP "You'll Never Walk Alone" (by the way not a makeshift LP, but rather a nice compilation of sacred songs) and I still love it today. A great song, sung impressively that is outstanding in the movie and equally so on record.

Put "Let Us Pray" on a single with "Sing You Children" on the b side, and you've got a pretty good gospel 45! (Or use the version of "Swing Down Sweet Chariot" from The Trouble With Girls as the b side.) gospel didn't appear often in an Elvis movie, but on the rare occasions it did, it was always a bright spot.

Again a prominent bass as in the title song, played by Joe Mondragon. The Blossoms, who also appeared on the Singer Special, sing on this song. This song was recorded in March in Hollywood, but Elvis recorded a new vocal in September in Nashville, so obviously he cared for the song. I like it very much.

Will Mary (Tyler Moore) pick Elvis or Jesus ... we'll never know. "Let Us Pray" is one of those songs that I'll hit the repeat-button and play it 25 times.

A nice way to put an end to Elvis' movie career.

So-so song from one of his last movies, thank God! Thank the Colonel and his greed for putting Elvis onto this money grabbing schedule of never ending bad, bad movies with crappy soundtracks for the better part of his Hollywood and recording career. Sad.

Certainly in my favourites play list. Elvis could do no wrong in 69 and even the movies got better. Many argue that Change Of Habit was his finest and I agree. To me, the ending was more about Jesus winning rather than girl having to decide because we end with Dr Carpenter in church singing in the worship band. Both turn to God not each other. Whatever the meaning, the song is beautiful and 4 stars

I still like the song as my 2009 post stated, but tried watching the movie recently and couldn't get through it, cheap looking, dated and terribly cliched. And yes, the acting was not good. There are now only a handful of movies I can sit through.

Should have been on 'He Touch Me' album

I have zero idea what Steve V is talking about. Change of Habit was a very good role for Elvis, as he played a doctor working in a ghetto clinic. That role had depth.
