And as always you state your oppinion be talking down to other fans, so maybe you should grow up. You always state your views like they are God given truthes , but are never able to argue for them when discussing , you just get offended.
Without even looking, I knew who wrote the previous message. Alan, chill, its an opinion dude, that's all. Freedom of speech is allowed last time I checked. I am not rating a singer by skin color. I am offering an opinion on a certain genre of music. This may shock you but I also think black artists sing R&B, and blues better than Elvis. For goodness sake grow up. Elvis was not the best at everything under the sun.
It is so great when musical geniuses (With extensive collections) decide to enrich us Elvis fans who Never listen to anything else than Elvis with there much welcome knowledge about music, but beside from finding out what they think I never heard anything useful from them. If one were to rate a singer I think skin color isn't the way to go, I would look at several parameters such as versality in style and voice, popularity, sales, and if the feeling they convey suit the song to find out who is the best.
I concur with "dgirl" 110%! and yes, I do, in fact, have an extensive gospel selection and yes, I very much like this song by Elvis, but the overall album itself, "He Touched Me" I rate way above "How Great Thou Art". "His Hand In Mine" is still the best by Elvis.
Great song, and I like all 3 albums very much. But as far as Elvis being the best gospel singer ever? I don't think so. White singer perhaps. I would suggest Mahalia Jackson, Sam Cooke and The Soul Stirrers and The Staples Singers. No one beats Black singers singing gospel. Im sure most people here don't own any gospel except by Elvis.
This is such a beautiful song and Elvis' renditions of it are all brilliant. The best gospel music will definitely always be Elvis' gospel music. Also, no one will ever be able to sing gospel songs as well as Elvis sang them.
Another top notch gospel delivery from Elvis and team, showing the deep conviction he had for this genre, - perfection from the first note to the last.
It´s a Great Song , from a Great Album. It's true that “He touched me”, hasn't the same feelings like, “His Hand in mine” and “How Great Thou Art”. But that is because “He Touched Me”, as a lot of we could call now of Contemporary Christian Music, and doesn’t follows traditional and pure gospel standards as the two previous albums. That not a bad thing at all, in a way the fits in perfection in Presley catalog. Maybe because of it, He touched me still, nowadays, sound fresh and beautiful.
Great song and a great album. Crazy talk to suggest that this album should not have been made ! His three gospel albums are different in style and this way there are something for everybody, and a lot for somebody (like me) who likes all three.

"His Hand In Mine" / "How Great Thou Art" were good albums, he should have left it at that as far as "He Touched" Me goes.
Absolutely beautiful, a recording from the heart and soul. Also love the pictures of Elvis singing this backstage in Elvis on Tour. Four stars.
The "He Touched Me" LP was a little uneven; but it did have many great tracks. The title song, "Reach Out To Jesus", "Bosom Of Abraham", "I, John" are top-notch; but this one is the crown jewel of the album. Elvis sings it with conviction and sincerity, the lyrics are well-crafted and the Imperials provide outstanding backing vocals. One of my favorite Elvis sacred songs.
