Just Because

Rating:
4.4 / 5

Words & Music: Bob Shelton Joe Shelton Sid Robin

Well, well, well,
Just because you think you're so pretty,
And just because your momma thinks you're hot,
Well, just because you think you've got something
That no other girl has got,
You've caused me to spend all my money.
You laughed and called me old Santa Claus.
Well, I'm telling you,
Baby, I'm through with you.
Because, well well, just because.

Well, well, well,
There'll come a time when you'll be lonesome
And there'll come a time when you'll be blue.
Well, there'll come a time when old Santa
He won't pay your bills for you.

You've caused me to lose all my women
And now, now you say we are through.
Well, I'm telling you
Baby, I was through with you
A long long time ago.

Well, just because you think you're so pretty
And just because your mama thinks you're the hottest thing in
town
Well, just because you think you've got something
That nobody else has got,
You've caused me to spend all of my money.
Honey, you laughed and called me your old Santa Claus.
Well, I'm telling you I'm through with you
Because, well well, just because.

A great Elvis version of this old country classic and the best version I have heard.

A raw Elvis having lots of fun in this wonderful track which I believe to be a real highlight of the sun recordings.

How can you not feel happy when hearing this? Elvis starts to explode his career at Sun and is having a ball. For those that enjoy those maudlin 70's songs, give this a spin again. Songs like this is what made Elvis Presley a phenom in the music world.

I really like this one.

A lot of energy on this one and I must say I enjoy it very much. It´s just a great rock n´roll recording

this is a great song indeed. and what a relief after these questionable selections those last days. is there any information how many it was performed live during the 50's? These sun recordings will stand forever as a class of their own. genuine sound by highly creative artists.

It's ok.I'm not a fan of his Sun day's as such,I like one or two like "I Forgot To Remember To Forget" is better.

A jumpin' youthful Elvis full of energy and bursting with enthousiasm. A great recording from one of the top albums. For me this is one of those classics that is part of my daily shot of Rock 'n' Roll.

One of the greatest Rock performances ever, by anyone. This is what Elvis is all about. This is My ELVIS.

This is Elvis inventing 'Rock 'n Roll'. Check out the top charts of the day. Nothing compares with this or what had still to come. Oh to go back and enjoy it all over again. Still, we can listen to Elvis singing his way into history anytime, sometime I do often, The Sun recordings, Elvis Rock ' roll, Golden Records Vol 1 & 2, Elvis is Back................

Fantastic early rocker from Elvis that has stated previously is Elvis inventing rock n' roll. One of the many great songs to appear on his first LP and one of the very best Sun recordings.

This is such a sensational song and Elvis easily has the best rendition of it that I've ever heard. Elvis' version has so very much energy and it's definitely one of the finest Rock 'N' Roll performances ever.

A timeless classic which brings back fond memories as I was only 11 years old. It was on a 78RPM record with "Blue Moon" on the flip side as a present from my parents that I first heard this classic. Still like it a lot!

I didn't buy Elvis first album until about 1965, right in the middle of Beatlemania. This song is one of the reasons why that album was so great to listen to , and so differant from what was on the radio at the time. The point is great music is great music no matter when you first hear it .

Song Performances like this, is why, we call him, the "King".

I think this is basically a mundane song that Elvis rescues with this performance. Not the best track by any means from Sun but still worth 4 stars.

Scotty is great on this track. Besides Scotty & Elvis, Dough Poindexter is playing guitar on this one. The percussion sound is Bill Black's bass. Elvis gets too close on the mike with Pay your Bills, something Sam Phillips warned him about. It just makes this recording better. This version differs much from all the country versions done before Elvis. Elvis really rocks it.

Just genius (again).

Love this song even more today. One of those "sleepers" as I refer to it and Scotty Moore's guitar playing is absolutely awesome as is the case on all the Sun recordings.
