Tickle Me is the only Elvis movie I never saw. I believe that Elvis handpicked all the songs for that movie himself. Must be a nice soundtrack. Joe Cocker said Elvis was the best white blues singer. He was right, although strictly speaking, Elvis was much more then just a blues singer. But how many white blues singers do you know? Janis Joplin comes to mind, but I don't think she's that good. White blues singers are rare. That said, I rather hear Elvis sing the blues than my favourite blues singer Bessie Smith. I just love his voice so much.
Great song! But it sure did seem insanely out of place in Tickle Me! It felt so WRONG in that movie, like lipstick on a pig :-)
This song certainly Feels so right, 5 stars, from one of his 5 greatest studio sessions IMO.
Elvis was, without any doubt, an outstanding blues singer. This song is the living proof of it. It is also one of the best works from the less than mediocre team writers Wise/Wiseman. Here they hit the nail, and Elvis delivers it in perfection.
The inclusion of this song in Tickle Me was to my mind a good decision and probably made a few people more aware of its existence than before. This song has grown in stature over the years but was too hard edged when first released for the masses, and I am not so sure it would have done that well in the charts like the released ballads of that era. A top notch blues presentation using the One Night rasping vocal

Could not believe the guy that sang this in 1960, was the one I was watching in Tickle Me. It looked like he was imitating another singer. Still what a fantastic song and what a fantastic singer.
This is absolutely fantastic, one of those superb recordings from the best studio album of his entire career. Splendid opening of the song. Five star performance.
In the movie, elvis plays a very nice intro for the song. Is there any session take of that??
Elvis did some brilliant blues songs along the way my fav being "Mess Of Blues",......"It Feels So Right" is another.EIB is a great LP,makes me wonder why DJs just play "Hound Dog"..etc which we have heard over & over to the almost point of
dare I say....boredom,I wish they would streach their imagination ( asking too much) and look beyond "Heartbreak Hotel"
they would find greatness like these blues numbers.Even Joe Cocker said that Elvis was the greatest blues singer in the world,he wasn't wrong. 10 stars no doubt.

A terrific bluesy/rock track from the great LP "Elvis Is Back". This LP should easily be considered whenever one of those top 50 or top 100 rock and roll LP's come out; but it is largely ignored by critics. I don't think the inclusion of this song in the movie "Tickle Me" was a bad decision. Despite it's low budget, the movie is entertaining and funny. As the flipside of "Easy Question", IFSR peaked at #55 on the pop chart (the A-side peaked at #11 and was a #1 easy listening hit) thanks to it's appearance in the movie.
One of the best songs on the great Elvis Is Back album and one of the best post 50's rock/blues vocals he did. It deserved to stay on that prestigious album and not in a terrible movie that was as cheaply made as a dumb TV sitcom. Such was the Presley decision making process in the mid 60's.
What a rasping vocal ! Elvis gets the lyrics wrong at one point ('through' instead of 'long') but it is one of the many high class tracks on Elvis Is Back. The added guitar intro in the Tickle Me film is interesting.
Great song. What a vocal! Too bad it was used in Tickle Me. Sort of took away from its greatness to be in a silly movie like that.
I always thought this was like "one night" 60's style. Would love to hear a version with just guitar(like 68 sitdown).
