I'll Take Love

Words & Music:
Dolores Fuller/ Mark BarkanSome people think that pot of gold
Is all they ever want to hold
But there's a treasure, I think more of
Measure for measure .. I'll take love
Some people think that their success
Is all they need for happiness
But there's a pleasure, I think more of
Measure for measure .. I'll take love
Pound for pound oh yeah and
Ounce for ounce love is all that really counts
So let them have their wealth and fame
Eat caviar and drink champagne
You're all the treasure I'm dreaming of
Measure for measure .. I'll take love
Pound for pound oh yeah and
Ounce for ounce love is all that really counts
So let them have their wealth and fame
Eat caviar and drink champagne
You're all the treasure I'm dreaming of
Measure for measure .. I'll take love
I'll take love, I'll take love

I really enjoy this song which swings along with an attractive backing and beat, and is the second best song after You Gotta Stop from the film and assembled outtakes.
Presley should not be doing this kind of easy listening song in 1966, but i have to say: I Like it. Maybe because it was of the first songs i knew from Elvis. I just like it, it "swings".
I've always liked this Elvis movie song and I've never skipped it while listening to the "Easy Come, Easy Go" soundtrack album. In my opinion, the only bad song from this soundtrack album is "Yoga Is As Yoga Does".
From a lackluster movie ("Easy Come, Easy Go") comes this better than average tune. Elvis sounds as though he is having fun again after the complete boredom in his voice on the "Harum Scarum" and "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" sessions. It is no secret that after the PHS soundtrack, Elvis wanted better songs for his future movies. The writers obliged and gave him several nice songs for "Spinout" and a couple of good ones for "Double Trouble". With "Easy Come, Easy Go", it was hit or no where near the target. "You Gotta Stop", "Sing You Children", "She's A Machine" and this one were songs that sounded like they could have been from movies back in '61 or '62. The title song was more average and "Yoga Is As Yoga Does" and "The Love Machine" were the equal of the PHS material.
