I Got a Feelin' in My Body

Rating:
4.3 / 5

Words & Music: Dennis Linde

When Moses walked the children out of Egypt land
Said now don't you worry, we're in the Lord's hands
He's gonna walk beside us, the time is comin' near
He's gonna wash away all our misery and our fear

I got a feelin' in my body
This will be our lucky day
We'll be releasing all our sorrow
Leave it layin' along the way

When Daniel faced the lion there wasn't any doubt
You got to be like Daniel and the Lord will help us out

I got a feelin' in my body
This will be our lucky day
We'll be releasing all our sorrow
Leave it layin' along the way

Won't you lift your eyes up children
Lift them to the sky
Heaven stands before you, gates are open wide
Shelter for the weary, comfort for the weak
We'll leave the devil's evil, sweatin' on the street

I gotta, I gotta, I gotta
I got a feelin' in my body
This will be our lucky day
We'll be releasing all our sorrow
Leave it layin' along the way

Won't you lift your eyes up children
Lift them to the sky
Heaven stands before you, gates are open wide
Shelter for the weary, comfort for the weak
Leave the devils evil, sweatin' on the street

I gotta, I gotta, I gotta
I got a feelin' in my body
This will be our lucky day
We'll be releasing all our sorrow
Leave it layin' along the way

I wanna know, I wanna know, I wanna know right now, I wanna know
Yeah. yeah, I got a feel
I got a feelin' I got a feelin'

I got a feelin' in my body
This will be our lucky day
We'll be releasing all our sorrow
Leave it layin' along the way

From Burning Love to this? Dennis what happened?

One of the better songs from the LP "Good Times", which unfortunately was a "hit and miss" album. This is a fine gospel effort and kind of shows Elvis returning to his roots. This would have been a fine track to include on an LP with other uptempo numbers. If only RCA had waited to release the LP "Raised On Rock" and been able to include this song, "Promised Land", "I've Got A Thing About You, Baby" and "Talk About The Good Times". They could have thrown out "Three Corn Patches" and "Girl Of Mine" and a couple of others and made a real "rock" LP.

I think this is one of the best up tempo numbers from the Elvis catalogue in the 1970's. Brilliantly sung, wth the breathy way he repeats 'I Gotta' , helping build up the excitement of the whole recording, means a definite 5 star from me.

Great midtempo rocker. Author Linde overdubbed guitar on the song.

Love this song, especially the outtake in the great sound on the new STAX album.

I realy like this song. Has a funky sound, and the King was in great mood. Never skip it! My kind of 70's!

I must admit I like this one too! Funky stuff with Elvis in great voice! Infact I like the entire STAX output now again to be found on the new STAX set!

Love this as much as Burning Love. Love the original album as well as the new Stax album. 5 stars

Excellent song and vocal performance by Elvis . Likes other have remarked, this song sounds great on the new Stax set, and there's an alternate take that's just good if not better than the master.

This is such a marvelous, fun, groovy, energetic, unique, electrifying, underrated and overlooked song and Elvis' rendition of it was spectacular. I've never skipped it. This is a masterpiece of a recording for sure.

LOVE THIS SONG. Especially the undubbed raw outakes.

I'm a huge 70s Elvis fan. Overall, the Stax sessions were great. My Boy, Promised Land and If You Talk in Your Sleep are at the very of my list; I can listen to each of those songs 25 times in a row. I Got a Feelin' in My Body and She Wears My Ring fall into the bottom 25% of my list.

I like it. But it's no "Burning Love." 3 stars.

Eh, never did much for me, As far as the 70's go, better than a lot, (which wasnt hard to achieve) but no where near the level of Burning Love.

1-star. A throw away as far as I'm concerned.

I rate this song 4-out-of-5 stars. Elvis really gets into it.

Recorded 10th December 1973 at Stax Studios in Memphis. The first song cut at the December session, followed by It's Midnight. You can feel Stax and 70's Memphis bursting out of the speakers, emanating from the funky production on this number. A great performance from all involved.

I reacted to this very positively in 2012 and have not changed my mind at all - a really great track, among many others recorded at Stax in 1973.
