His Hand in Mine

Rating:
4.5 / 5

Words & Music: Mosie Lister

You may ask me how I know my Lord is real (my Lord is real)
You may doubt the things I say and doubt the way I feel (the way I feel)
But I know he's real today he'll always be (he'll always be)
I can feel his hand in mine and that's enough for me

I will never walk alone he holds my hand (he holds my hand)
He will guide each step I take
And if I fall I know he'll understand
Till the day he tells me why he loves me so (he loves me so)
I can feel his hand in mine
That's all I need to know

I will never walk alone he holds my hand (he holds my hand)
He will guide each step I take
And if I fall I know he'll understand
Till the day he tells me why he loves me so (he loves me so)
I can feel his hand in mine
That's all I need to know

I can feel his hand in mine
That's all I need to know

The title song from his first gospel LP and yet its my least favorite on the album. Guess that goes to show how strong the rest of the LP is, because I do like this song, just not as much as the other tracks.

A wonderful gospel song that is beautifully sung by Elvis which has him duetting and then reaching down to hitting bass-baritone notes when singing solo. Totally engaging and heading up an album that was a slight risk at this stage of his career.

Indeed not the best track from the album, but still a winner.

I remember getting this Album back in 1963. It sounded great then, it's even better now. No one else was interested in listening to it back in '63 so I'd play when I was on my own. Now I often listen to it along with How great thou art when relaxing on a quite Sunday morning. Not the best gospel track, but hey, some of the others are mind blowing!

This is a good track on a great LP and perhaps the least appealing of the 12 songs. HGTA and HTM were among the very best tracks on their respective LPs but this title track just seems to drag in places and the backing is a little over-bearing. Still I give it 3.5 to 4 stars. I don't think there was any risk in the release of this LP. The Colonel was steering Elvis towards mainstream appeal and this LP showed Elvis truly was "a real fine decent boy".

Truly a masterpiece! I give it the same amount of stars that are in the heavens.

This song is a masterpiece and Elvis' rendition of it was a masterpiece too. 5 Stars.

5-stars all the way. Great album, great lead off song; total performance at his peak. His best gospel album of all time.

Great lead track. Great LP. Both 5 stars.

I'm not a religious man, but I love Elvis' gospel music! This song is as good as the rest of them on that album. Include Crying In The Chapel too! The His Hand In Mine sessions would have been a nice FTD, following the new path from the label!

Elvis’ voice was sublime at this time and this album is pure genius. I am a man of faith to which I owe much to this album….life changing. HHIM is one of the best but the top notches goes to Milky white way, Swing down sweet chariot and Joshua fit the battle. But it’s still a 5 star track.
