Girls! Girls! Girls!

Rating:
4.1 / 5

Words & Music: Jerry Leiber Mike Stoller

Girls, goin' swimming,
Girl, in bikinis,
A walkin' and wigglin' by, yay, yay, yay
Girls, on the beaches,
Girls, oh, what a peaches,
So pretty, Lord I could cry
I'm just a red blooded boy
And I can't stop thinkin' about

Girls, sailin' sailboats,
Girls, water skiin',
They'll drive me out of my mind, yay, yay, yay
Girls, big and brassy,
Girls, small and sassy,
Just give me one of each kind

I'm just a red blooded boy
And I can't stop thinkin' about
Girls! Girls! Girls! Girls!

And when I pick up a sandwich too much
A crunchy crunchety
A crunchety crunch
I never ever get to finish my lunch
Because there's always bound to be a bunch of

Girls, in tight sweaters,
Girls, in short dresses,
A walkin' and wigglin' by, yay, yay, yay
Girls, out boatin'
Girls, just a floatin'
So pretty, Lord I could cry.

I'm just a red blooded boy
And I can't stop thinkin' about
Girls! Girls! Girls! Girls! Girls! Girls!

Elvis singin' about about one of my favorite subjects :-) Besides that the song rocks too and was a favorite of mine when I first discovered Elvis; so I like it for sentimental reasons.

Fine number with a great sax solo. Still goes down well at my Elvis disco nights in London.

Despite such lyrics as 'and when I pick up a sandwich too much, A crunchy crunchety, A crunchety crunch, I never ever get to finish my lunch' this is actually a fine fun song. Great sax solo too.

The hopping title tune from Elvis' 11th movie. One of the weaker Leiber and Stoller penned tunes, but this one is fun. I wouldn't quite give it 4 stars, but 3 1/2 would be appopriate. I always liked the different lyrics on the version from the finale of the film better than the album version.

How could this possibly be a Leiber & Stoller song?? Yes, great sax and Elvis sounds great, and I enjoy the topic as much as the next red blooded boy.....but lyrically is really is a very dumb song. I guess the lines about finishing his lunch kinda ruin it for me. I'll say this for it: I don't skip it when it comes on, so what there is to like about it does outweigh what I do not like. So all in all, not anywhere near Elvis' worst, but not even in the same universe as his best----or Leiber & Stoller's best.

Great song, but often overlooked because it was in what became, the 'Elvis movie', a weak plot of a movie with lush scenery and a song every 5 minutes. Plus it was used right in the beginning and not in the film. But this is a fine rocker with a blaring sax solo and Elvis in great early 60's voice. Besides RTS, the only other song of quality on the LP. As far as the lyrics, many great rock songs have ridiculous lyrics, thats part of the charm isnt it? Jailhouse Rock, Poison Ivy, Charlie Brown, Hound Dog, etc. All Leiber/Stoller too.

I like it and also the short end title version. The correct lyric in is " . . . when I pick up a sandwich to munch." "Munch" means "to chew with steady or vigorous working of the jaws, often audibly."

The Coasters sung the song with a great deal of humour and, as such, their version is a lot more enjoyable. I'm afraid Elvis' version is very average (for him).

All in all a pretty good uptempo number from generally a sub par movie. Without a doubt one of the better songs from this soundtrack.

A feel good uptempo sixties tune. Only thing is I think the "Benny Hill" sound a like sax in the insrtumental section either lets it down or adds to the fun, if you remember "Benny Hill". The lyrics and sentiment to these kind of songs these days including "Girl Happy" and especially "Take me to the fair" can sound a bit sexually pervy .... but i suppose thats just the state of our society these days ......

Absolute fun song and one of the better title songs. Yay, yay, yay!

The rollocking sax solo lifts an average fun recording to something a lot more than ordinary.

Boots Randolph also did the Benny Hill tune, so that explains the resemblance. The greatest track from the Girls! soundtrack.

5-Stars! Great song, great album. Most of the soundtrack songs are decent except for the "Song of the Shrimp" and "Thanks to the Rolling Sea", which are scene oriented and pure filler in my mind. Funny how 2 of the songs on the soundtrack album never made an appearance in the actual movie; so why were they included on the album?

Elvis still singing like he cared about his movie title songs, giving it his all. By 1965, this would all but disappear. Its a good rocker with Boots and DJ really going to town. 5 stars

Good song, the film and soundtrack were OK too.I don't think Elvis ever recorded a bad L&S written song

I like the song because it has that extra beat and is also about having fun. As a youngster I enjoyed this type of songs very much, as - for me - the pop music of sixties had not much to offer to my taste. Lyrics? Who cares. Most songs have lyrics that are worthless, silly; those with 'a message' are mostly dull. I am very fond of Elvis' special song, a message song: hound dog. That's entertainment!

This is such a marvelous, unique, fun, underrated and overlooked Elvis song and it should definitely be much better known than it actually is. The saxophone solo by Boots Randolph is amazing too. This is one of 24 songs that Elvis recorded that was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. "Girls! Girls! Girls!" is my seventh most favorite Elvis movie and it's one of three Elvis 1960's movies that was entirely filmed in Hawaii.

Call it quality pleasure but I have always loved this song. Full of fun, spirit and energy and Elvis is all over it. Definitely not the greatest Leiber/Stoller/ Presley effort, but a minor classic for me, and a great memory from my childhood, long before I was old enough to appreciate the song's subject matter.

A nice and suitable opening song from the title movie. Infact all the songs were great in this movie. Nice scenery and elvis snapped his fingers well in this movie. A 3 star for this particular song from me.

It's likely that Where Do You Come From? and I Don't Want To appeared on the LP even though they weren't in the movie because the album went to print before Paramount excised them from the film. Think of them as bonus songs before RCA called them that. Love the title tune.

One of the best movie title tracks of all! I've always enjoyed this with the raunchy sax solo by Boots. Could easily have been a hit as a single on it's own. (Was actually released as a single c/w I Got Lucky in Germany in the 60's)

As a red-blooded who actually can stop thinking about girls, I find it's a pleasurable enough tune, with that rounded and smooth voice from the early 60's. The lyrics are pretty dumb regarding content, yet pretty smart & creative in their form. Yes, in a sense it's the beginning of what's wrong about pop culture and western culture in general: it's pretty much hedonistic and void of deeper meaning. And nowadays girls, girls, girls in the western world are (mostly) ugly & mean. In 1962 people in general were better looking and at least Elvis didn't need autotune to sing about it. I'd say 3.5 stars, but I can't give that, so Elvis gets 4 for this one.
