Girls! Girls! Girls!

Words & Music:
Jerry Leiber/ Mike StollerGirls, goin' swimming,
Girl, in bikinis,
A walkin' and wigglin' by, yay, yay, yay
Girls, on the beaches,
Girls, oh, what a peaches,
So pretty, Lord I could cry
I'm just a red blooded boy
And I can't stop thinkin' about
Girls, sailin' sailboats,
Girls, water skiin',
They'll drive me out of my mind, yay, yay, yay
Girls, big and brassy,
Girls, small and sassy,
Just give me one of each kind
I'm just a red blooded boy
And I can't stop thinkin' about
Girls! Girls! Girls! Girls!
And when I pick up a sandwich too much
A crunchy crunchety
A crunchety crunch
I never ever get to finish my lunch
Because there's always bound to be a bunch of
Girls, in tight sweaters,
Girls, in short dresses,
A walkin' and wigglin' by, yay, yay, yay
Girls, out boatin'
Girls, just a floatin'
So pretty, Lord I could cry.
I'm just a red blooded boy
And I can't stop thinkin' about

5-Stars! Great song, great album. Most of the soundtrack songs are decent except for the "Song of the Shrimp" and "Thanks to the Rolling Sea", which are scene oriented and pure filler in my mind. Funny how 2 of the songs on the soundtrack album never made an appearance in the actual movie; so why were they included on the album?
Boots Randolph also did the Benny Hill tune, so that explains the resemblance. The greatest track from the Girls! soundtrack.
The rollocking sax solo lifts an average fun recording to something a lot more than ordinary.
Absolute fun song and one of the better title songs. Yay, yay, yay!
A feel good uptempo sixties tune. Only thing is I think the "Benny Hill" sound a like sax in the insrtumental section either lets it down or adds to the fun, if you remember "Benny Hill". The lyrics and sentiment to these kind of songs these days including "Girl Happy" and especially "Take me to the fair" can sound a bit sexually pervy .... but i suppose thats just the state of our society these days ......
All in all a pretty good uptempo number from generally a sub par movie. Without a doubt one of the better songs from this soundtrack.
The Coasters sung the song with a great deal of humour and, as such, their version is a lot more enjoyable. I'm afraid Elvis' version is very average (for him).
I like it and also the short end title version. The correct lyric in is " . . . when I pick up a sandwich to munch." "Munch" means "to chew with steady or vigorous working of the jaws, often audibly."
Great song, but often overlooked because it was in what became, the 'Elvis movie', a weak plot of a movie with lush scenery and a song every 5 minutes. Plus it was used right in the beginning and not in the film. But this is a fine rocker with a blaring sax solo and Elvis in great early 60's voice. Besides RTS, the only other song of quality on the LP. As far as the lyrics, many great rock songs have ridiculous lyrics, thats part of the charm isnt it? Jailhouse Rock, Poison Ivy, Charlie Brown, Hound Dog, etc. All Leiber/Stoller too.
How could this possibly be a Leiber & Stoller song?? Yes, great sax and Elvis sounds great, and I enjoy the topic as much as the next red blooded boy.....but lyrically is really is a very dumb song. I guess the lines about finishing his lunch kinda ruin it for me. I'll say this for it: I don't skip it when it comes on, so what there is to like about it does outweigh what I do not like. So all in all, not anywhere near Elvis' worst, but not even in the same universe as his best----or Leiber & Stoller's best.
The hopping title tune from Elvis' 11th movie. One of the weaker Leiber and Stoller penned tunes, but this one is fun. I wouldn't quite give it 4 stars, but 3 1/2 would be appopriate. I always liked the different lyrics on the version from the finale of the film better than the album version.
Despite such lyrics as 'and when I pick up a sandwich too much, A crunchy crunchety, A crunchety crunch, I never ever get to finish my lunch' this is actually a fine fun song. Great sax solo too.
Fine number with a great sax solo. Still goes down well at my Elvis disco nights in London.
Elvis singin' about about one of my favorite subjects :-) Besides that the song rocks too and was a favorite of mine when I first discovered Elvis; so I like it for sentimental reasons.
