The girl next door went a'walking
She found the boy she likes
She wanted to get married
Settle down for life

The girl next door went a'walking
She knew it wasn't right
She came home at half past ten
Late every night

The girl next door went a'walking
She found the boy she likes
She wanted to get married
Settle down for life

She didn't know love was so grand
She never took love second hand
But to my surprise
She thought that love was paradise

The girl next door went a'walking
She found the boy she likes
She wanted to get married
Settle down for life

The girl next door went a'walking
She knew it wasn't right
She came home at half past ten
Late every night

The girl next door went a'walking
She found the boy she likes
She wanted to get married
Settle down for life

She didn't know love was so grand
She never took love second hand
But to my surprise
She thought that love was paradise

The girl next door went a'walking
She found the boy she likes
She wanted to get married
Settle down for life

Now the two are married
Settled down for life
She walks by hand in hand
Late every night

The girl next door went a'walking
She found the boy she likes
She wanted to get married
Settle down for life
Settle down for life
Settle down for life
Settle down for life

Great song, should have been a single release. The "Elvis Is Back" album had so many great songs, one of my favorite albums of all-time and this song is a standout.

A fun pop track. Can listen to it day in, day out. Like many other Elvis tracks of course.

Not one of the stronger songs from these sessions but well sung by Elvis and a more than passable number. Promises a lot in the initial stages of the song but never quite delivers its full potential, and not one I include on my playlists.

"THE KING" at the top of his game.

I'd rather listen to "Night Rider" from the Pot Luck LP 1,000 times before I listen to "Girl Walking" once.

I think if Elvis had recorded this song at any other session after 1960 it would have sounded like a slightly stronger than usual soundtrack tune. It's not great but the King's voice never sounded better than during the Elvis is Back sessions that helps nudge this tune above being mediocre.

A good song from a very good LP.One of his all too few better LPs. Good cover as well I am old enough to be able to have an mono open gate LP..later to obtain a stereo version.

Smooth amazing vocals by Elvis. Great harmony. Great Music arrangement. Love this song ! The "Elvis is back" album, is without a doubt, one of Elvis' best albums. Vocally he was on top of his game. And, the same could be said, for his "best album" (in my opinion) titled,"From Elvis in Memphis", which later became a better collection, when RCA, put all the Memphis studio songs on the CDs"Suspicious Minds-The Memphis Anthology" and "The Memphis Record"

Maybe not a top notch song on an LP filled with them, but this is one damn fine tune. So well done, the band cooks, Elvis is perfect, and the production is flawless. Beats any uptempo tune on Pot Luck except Suspicion.

I have always loved this song. The lyrics aren't the greatest of all time, but the singing and the music are top notch. Elvis sounds amazing here. It's amazing to me that there are some Elvis fans who don't like this. Elvis Is Back is one of the best albums ever, my favorite! I, for one, loved it the first time I heard it. This is the first record I ever owned. My Dad bought for me from a garage sale when I was about 3 years old. This track to me is sweet as nectar!

This song is nothing...! I mean nothing...very bad...

I think this song is underated - it is fun and Elvis is in absolutely superb voice. Wipes the floor with a lot of the material that was not far off the horizon.

Wasn't particualrly my type of song. I always played: Reconsider Baby and the sentimental I Will Be Home Again. But musicwise Elvis at his hand right on the plow back then. All to soon he would sing to dogs and dolls and dominiques...;-)

One of the lesser tracks from one of Elvis' best LP's "Elvis Is Back". Just because it is a lesser track on this LP doesn't mean it isn't still a very good track, it would be one of the better tracks if it was on a lesser LP such as "Pot Luck"(not that it was a bad LP, just not the quality of EIB). This album had it all, rock and roll, blues, ballads and pop and this one falls in the pop category with a bit of rock and roll. Fun, energetic song from an album I haven't tired of since the first day I heard it.

The Elvis is Back album was a bit of a mixture of good and mediocre material. I would place this song into the mediocre section along with Fever another song I never play.

Great recording, even better album, 12 fab songs. Back in 1960 it was a gem, and this track fitted into the album giving it a taste of various trends from Elvis. Not just rock 'n roll or ballets but a great mixture. 1960 and Elvis was still in command of what he wanted to record and still riding high in all the pop charts.

One of the weaker songs on that great LP but thousands of times better than most of the soundtrack songs that followed in the decade.

Never have liked this one. A waste of album space. Surely they could have found something better.

Not an album I play very often but an excellent release. This is a good track.

I like it a lot. Fine performance from the fantastic album Elvis is back, which I think was Elvis´ greatest album
