Movie fluff yes, but I like it. Cute ballad, amusing lyrics, well sung, and having an innate charm - 3 stars.

Not a typical Elvis movie song. Fun lyrics. Three stars material.

I thought this song was so clever when the 10 or 11 year-old version of me first heard it. The Girl Happy soundtrack simply has a special place for me. A girl I had a crush on had the album before me and she let me borrow it. Like most of Elvis' soundtracks, I heard the album well before I ever saw the movie. Looking back I can see that neither the movie nor the soundtrack are exactly "good" and within the context of the music scene in 1964 it fares even worse. But to an 11 year old boy who'd only heard a handful of other Elvis songs, I loved this track and actually found it somehow very sophisticated. Those ideas have all changed, but the song still brings me a certain amount of happiness when I hear it.

One of my favorite movie songs - catchy lyrics that work well in the movie.

Elvis had such a great voice. Lots of the songs he recorded is great listening simply because he sings them so well, even though the song might be mediocre. I love his voice. Unfortunately his voice did not save this song. It's simply terrible, terrible. It really irritates me that a man with this voice wasted it on songs like this. He could sing everything! And he chose to sing songs like Britches, Fort Lauderdale, Chesay, Petunia, Ito Eats blah blah blah... Yeah, he did record great stuff too, but he really wasted his talent on so many of the movie songs, even though there are some good ones in there as well..

Just because this song was on an LP that charted at #8 doesnt mean a thing. Its terrible, no way around it. Elvis is put down by many people because of silly songs like this. Im sure Darin with his one 1965 charted record felt better about having his artistry in tact and recording songs he actually liked. Charts indeed!

A charming song, with a very pretty melody.

A purely situational track for the movie "Girl Happy". The lyrics are actually cute and in the movie it is fun, but on the LP it is dull. I don't know if Bobby Darin would have recorded it, but maybe he should have...In '65, Bobby had one song chart, and of all songs "Hello Dolly!" (peaking at #79) and one charted LP that hit a whopping #132 and spend four weeks on the chart. The "Girl Happy" hit #8 and spent 31 weeks on the chart.

No, Bobby Darin wouldn't have recorded this. But Darin didn't have a movie career that required him to make more than 2 dozen films in the '60s. As movie situational filler goes I rather like this song. Much worse stuff was yet to come. Check out the PHS soundtrack. As Elvis himself said, When you do a film with lots of songs they won't all be great.

The title says it all. Elvis should have tossed it into the trash bin upon reading it. Sorry Mr. Tepper.

One of the worst. Lyrics awful. Can you imagine another singer like Bobby Darin saying yes to record this? Thats what I thought. Thats should say it all. A waste but worse things were yet to come.

I know I probably shouldn't, but I really, really like this song. For a mid sixties movie tune it's surprisingly strong and doesn't suffer from the dreadful instrumentation that dragged so many other songs from this period even further into the garbage can. Cathcy melody witty lyrics and well sung.
