Fool, Fool, Fool

Rating:
3.9 / 5

Words & Music: (Ahmet Ertegun) Nugetre

Fool, fool, fool
That I was to fall for you.
Well, fool, fool, fool
That I was to fall for you.
Well, I know what a fool I was
To think that you could love me, too.

Well, well, when I first met you, baby,
Well, I knew I couldn't win,
But I just kept right on trying,
'Cause trying is no sin.

What a fool, fool, fool,
That I was to fall for you.
Well, I know what a fool I was
To think that you could love me, too.

Well, when I first met you, baby,
Well, I knew I couldn't win,
But I just kept right on trying,
'Cause trying is no sin.

What a fool that I was to fall for you.
Well, I know what a fool I was
To think that you could love me too.

I would have loved to hear a studio version of this song.

Charming to hear Elvis in his early days having fun with this song. Three stars from me.

I too would have liked, to have heard him record, a studio version of this song, in the 50s. I do like the other "fool" songs he recorded, like "A Fool such as I" & "If I'm a Fool for Loving you" & "The Fool".. and "Fool" . All 4 are real good performances.

Back in the 90's, I was so happy to have a new Elvis song when I bought the 50's box set and this song was on it. As a stand alone track it is ok song and a good performance, but not one of Elvis' best and a song I rarely listen to it.

Only a so so song and a reasonable performance but nothing outstanding. I put this in the same bag as the Sun version of When It Rains It Really Pours - given time what could have been.

I like this song immensely and I've never skipped it while listening to any CD that it's on. I was very thrilled and happy when I bought "The King Of Rock 'N' Roll" five cd box set in 1992 to find out that this never before issued Elvis track was included. I never even knew of the existence of this song before I actually bought that five cd box set. Elvis' performance of this song was brilliant and my favorite era of Elvis' career will always be the 1950's.

This one was played live in a radio studio in January or February 1955 in Lubbock, Texas. Great guitar playiung by Scotty.

Not one of his better efforts. Maybe if it was recorded professionally I could change my opinion, but that's not going to happen...

It's okay for what it is. But generally speaking if the song isn't professionally recorded I don't waste time with it. 2 stars.

I stand by what I said about this song in 2012, but I have just played the remix lasting nearly 3 minutes done by the controversial 'Star' team on their alternate masters volume 20 and it is worth at least 4 stars..

~ Love this song from a young Elvis Presley! -- Elvis was no fool fool fool, but he was foolish (in a business sense) to sell his musical catalog to RCA in March 1973.

Usually I would take anything from a 50's Elvis over a 70's or 60's soundtrack Elvis but this one is too poorly recorded to play a lot. Its still infectious however simply because he sounds happy to be in a recording studio and doing songs he loved. The original version by The Clovers is a great R&B song.
