Farther Along

Rating:
4.2 / 5

Words & Music: Arranged by Elvis Presley

(We'll understand it all by and by)
Tempted and tried we're oft' made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long
While there are others living about us
Never molested, though in the wrong

Farther along we'll know more about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by

When death has come and taken our loved ones
Leaving our homes so lonely and drear
Then do we wonder how others prosper
Living so wicked year after year

Farther along we'll know more about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by

One of my favourite tracks from the How Great Thou Art album Elvis sings this one with both conviction and sincerity

This song has been covered by literally hundreds of singers and it's hard to say which one is the best. Elvis' version sure is the most reverent.

When Elvis sings Gospel all fans listen, this is yet another gem, and the Lp is right up there with HHIM. It's Easter now so what better time to get out these albums or Cd's and them a spin.

The melody & lyrics of this song is awesome. Well arranged & sung. Long but not boring to me.

Classic!

Perfectly sung as all of the songs from these sessions, but I always chuckle at the 'cheer up my brother' line as I find the whole thing depressing!

Never listen to this song. Though the whole album is a cabinet filler it is essential to have my collection complete.

I don't listen to this too much as it overwhelms me - he was blessed with a gift to sing sacred numbers with so much feeling. -5 stars from me.

Who can sing a song like this like our man does here. I tell you: no one.
