Double Trouble

Rating:
3.1 / 5

Words & Music: Doc Pomus Mort Shuman

Some guys fall in love with one girl, I gotta fall for two
There's just so much lovin' that one heart's supposed to do
So I go around with my heart draggin' on the ground
Doggin' me around, I'm the sorriest sight in town

I got double trouble, I got double trouble
I got double trouble twice as much as anybody else oh yeah!

I guess there's gotta be two dark clouds hangin' over me
My future looks a bumpy as a matchbox on the sea
Every time I think that I have finally got it made
Some losin' cards are played, I just can't make the grade

I got double trouble, I got double trouble
I got double trouble twice as much as anybody else oh yeah!

I got double trouble, I got double trouble
I got double trouble twice as much as anybody else oh yeah!

A surprisingly horrendous Pomus & Shuman song, even they it seemed discovered the formula to have an Elvis film song accepted, write a crap song.

One of the weaker film songs, but not as bad as Datin´ or Yoga Is A Yoga does... I always kinda liked it.

I guess, Elvis careerwise was getting in Double Trouble: bad movies, bad songs

When I saw Pomus/Shuman on the label, my hopes were high. When I put needle to vinyl, it was typical movie crap and another uninspired performance by Elvis. Things were to get worse on the rest of the LP.

Not great. But certainly not horrendous. Sort of catchy. I kinda like it.

i liked this title song and thought the soundtrack was pretty good with the exception of "Old macdonald."

Oh, its a Fun song !! And, as pointed, out, very catchy !!! Thankfully better songs were ahead for Elvis in Memphis in 1969.

The passaable title tune from Elvis' 23rd movie. It is catchy and well performed by Elvis and Jordinaires, but it will not go down as one of his best either. The soundtrack LP to "Double Trouble" was an up and down record that isn't nearly as bad as some would have you think.

The writers couldn't even remember this song when asked about it. Lucky guys, 'cause this is pretty bad.

Not a favourite film title of mine and something I rarely play. I think the much maligned Clambake from the same period is far superior to this effort.

I've always liked this Elvis movie title song and I've never skipped it. It's a fun, good and catchy song and Elvis' rendition of it is tremendous. The only song from the "Double Trouble" soundtrack album that Elvis should have never recorded is "Old MacDonald".

First of all you have to put this song where it belongs. That is an Elvis sixties movie title tune, not a 1969 studio recording. So with that in mind I think , of its type, this is a very enjoyable, catchy, light hearted tune. Elvis in that great sixties form. I really like it but would love to hear it without the brass over dubs.

Frequently , the title songs to Elvis films were among the best in the films and on the albums. This is one of those better songs . Not bad , I enjoy it along with City By Night and a couple of others onn the album along with the bonus songs . It was fun seeing the European comics the Wiere Brothers in this film. My first encounter with them was when they had they're own TV show - "Oh Those Bells" back in the early 60's .

Forget the last time I played this track, or indeed the album /Cd.. It is poor now, just as it was poor in 1966. Elvis was in free fall. Between 1965 & 1968. But when the good times returned it was worth the wait. If I can Dream, In the Ghetto, Suspicious Minds, the Elvis Tv album, From Elvis in Memphis, etc.

Several 60s movies had great tile tracks: Double Trouble, Charro, Girls Girls Girls, Live a Little Love a Little and Change of Habit. Girl Happy fell off my list when I discovered that it was sped up.

Pure crap plain and simple. I don't care for it at all.
