Wise men say only fools rush in
but I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too
for I can't help falling in love with you
for I can't help falling in love with you
Recorded: 1960/03/23, first released on Blue Hawaii

Gets my vote as the best love ballad ever recorded. Elvis's vocals are beyond perfection.

The best movie ballad Elvis ever recorded.

Pure perfection and one of the brighest lights of all in his phenomenal recording career.

This is such a beautiful ballad and Elvis easily has the very best renditions of it. It rightfully was a major hit for Elvis worldwide. I love every song from the "Blue Hawaii" soundtrack album.

I find the Blue Hawaii original rather boring but the live version made me love this song - and so that the Stray Cats version on Original Cool

I loved the song when it was released and the many years after that. However, when it was used as the grand finale of every concert, it had the sentiment of 'it's all over now'. So though it was so intens it filled me with some sadness. But as years passed by (and having the next CD ready or being able to 'rewind' the concert) it was lifted again to the original sentiment. Also in 2011 there was that lovely end of Elvis In Concert, when at the end YOU was shows in big letters, referring to us, the fans. That reminded me of Elvis' love for his fans. Since then it has that special feeling again.
Moreover, it has become an iconic Elvis song used by many just for the special touch Elvis gave it.

Loosely based on the french classic "Plaisir d'amour", the king sings this with the same reverence he would interpret a hymn with. Add the sober backing and you got one of the highlights of his ballad repertoire.

I like all the versions. 5 stars period. Even non-Elvis fans would give this one 5 stars.

Truly a classic. And probably, the most requested Elvis song, of all of the time. I love the song, however I like "Are you Lonesome Tonight" much better. Years later, "The Wonder of you" was recorded, and its my favorite Elvis ballad.

Love the original and love the live version too, especially the post 71 versions which had the powerhouse ending. I know the arrangement of the live version doesn't really fit the tender nature of the lyrics but what a great way to end an Elvis concert!

In one word a masterpiece, any fan who considers this a overrated song must have lost his or her senses, this song covered by many singers, and still today this song is just as beautiful as back in 1961 when it was released.

An amazing recording that is not only a beautiful love song but has a spiritual underflow, especially how Elvis delivered the song later in the 70s. Elvis at his very best. Five stars from me.

A truly beautiful song and it really strikes a chord with 'Joe Public' Elvis fans in particular. It is a gorgeous and moving ballad and I remember that it was the song that was played on the news in the UK in 1977 when Elvis died. My favourite version is the music box version but I also enjoy the live version which makes for very good karaoke! TCB

the studioversion is unbeaten...although the 1968 version is also very pretty.

I love this song, but I have to say I'm sick of it. You think it was the only Elvis ballad ever recorded. As much as some folks are sick of All Shook Up, Dont Be Cruel, and other 50's classics, that's how I feel about this. Heard it too many times and it doesn't lift me up as the 50's classics do.

An absolute masterpiece. The ballad that seemed to be the blueprint for almost every movie ballad that was recorded after it. "Love Me Tender" was a great track and Elvis had many ballads that weren't from movies that were outstanding, but "Don't", "It Hurts Me" and this one are perfect songs.

CHFIL was released as the 'B' side to Rock-a-hula-Baby. After a few weeks RCA reversed the sides and it was was CHFIL that became the big hit. However, in the UK it was yet anonther double sided #1. His 5th double sided #1. The song and recording was a gem and a gaint of a hit back in 1961 at a time when Elvis could do no wrong [in the UK anyway]. From 1960 to 1963 Elvis hit the #1 spot time after time in the Uk and CHFIL came bang in the middle of this success.

Just heart this song tooooooo many times (and it is the sad reminder at the end of a concert that it's over ...).

Gorgeous! Exquisite! Beautifully sung! Ballads don't get much better than this.

One of the most overrated Elvis songs. I just can help believin' that so many people like something that's not more than a lulaby in my ears. Just as boring as most of the music in this movie by the way.

One of the many fine songs from the film Blue Hawaii, I always hoped that Elvis would have performed the song in the concert years as he did in the movie.
