Words & Music: Dennis Linde

Lord Almighty,
I feel my temperature rising
Higher higher
It's burning through to my soul

Girl, girl, girl
You gonna set me on fire
My brain is flaming
I don't know which way to go

Your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love

Ooh, ooh, ooh,
I feel my temperature rising
Help me, I'm flaming
I must be a hundred and nine
Burning, burning, burning
And nothing can cool me
I just might turn into smoke
But I feel fine

Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like a sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love

It's coming closer
The flames are reaching my body
Please won't you help me
I feel like I'm slipping away
It's hard to breath
And my chest is a-heaving

Lord Almighty,
I'm burning a hole where I lay
Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love
With burning love
Ah, ah, burning love
I'm just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love

The King's last really great single!

A slap in the face for those who said that Elvis rocking days ended when he went into the army. This track, Promised Land and For the Heart proved the critics wrong-once more

A great advertisement for 70's Elvis that's really stood the test of time and brings in new fans.

Elvis's best rocker since Big Hunk O Love. A return to the 50's in the 70's. Fabulous. The song is an icon.

This is my favorite song! I could hear a thousand times!

A favorite of many fans, myself included, strangely enough Elvis didn't like the song, one of his last hits, not that much.

like the song, although Elvis seemed always to forget the lyrics (no interest?) and I guess he at that time of his life had more interest in ballads..

The epitome of 70's Elvis. The cover art on the single oozed the same sensuality as the lyrics. Find Arthur Alexander's original version which is a great 'delta blues' style contrast.

great rocker. wouldn't recommend it to my pyromaniac friend though..

I like the original of Dennis Linde, a real rocker! Elvis made a completely mess of it. He seemed not very interesting in this song since, he always forgot the lyrics. But it was just a potential hit song.

Ranks right behind "Suspicious Minds" on my list of Top 10 Elvis singles. Terriffic song!

Elvis may have not wanted to record this one, but I am glad he did. An outstanding single that truly rocks with Elvis in top vocal form. As far as forgetting the words in concert, there are just some songs that performers develop mental blocks when performing. Elvis had trouble with "I Just Can't Help Believin'" in 70, "Burning Love" in the early to mid 70's and "My Way" in 76 and 77. I love the song "Burning Love", but I find myself sometimes switching verses when I sing it around the house. The single version gets five stars easily.

This is such a marvelous, fun, energetic and unique song and it rightfully was a major hit for Elvis worldwide. Elvis easily has the very best renditions of it and it's easily one of my most favorite Elvis songs too.

Definitely one of his greatest songs from any era, even though it did not appeal to him. Should have been an even bigger global hit than it was.

A great surprise when I first heard it. It still stands as one of his best of the 70's and even one of his all time greatest imo! Great track!

One of ELVIS' greatest number one hits.

His biggest hit of the 70's even though Elvis initially didn't want to record it! Not one of my favourites but I understand why it became a hit. Elvis should have released more good quality real rockers after he returned from the army. This is one of the few exceptions.

When I first heard it on the radio, it sounded like an Elvis imitator to me. This was the beginning of the end as far as I was conscerned. His voice was beginning to age prematurely. 1971 Nashville Marathon was his last great recording session.

My favourite Elvis song. Listen to the bass by Emory Gordy. This is sensational.

A 5-star song for sure. Back in 1972 when I heard this, I couldn't believe my ears and the flip side wasn't all that bad either, "Just A Matter of Time". I could never understand why he did not follow up with more songs of this nature, other than all the mundane ballads he continued to release after this burst of excitement. No wonder he continued to "tank" as far as recorded output. So sad.
