Elvis sang in 5 languages:English, German, Spanish, Italian & on this Hawaiian. Marty Robbins also has a nice version.
I'm so very glad that this traditional and popular Hawaiian song was included in the "Blue Hawaii" movie and on the soundtrack album of it too. It's such a beautiful song.
Man, I've always hated this song. I mean, it's a traditional Hawaiian song and I suppose it was a good idea to use it, and Elvis sounds just fine, but I rarely sit through this one. But I also hate this movie tremendously (though the movie and soundtrack certainly hate their moments--Can't Help Falling In Love for example...)
A true Hawaiian song included in the movie and soundtrack LP "Blue Hawaii". Good track from a good movie and a great soundtrack.
A memorable film with some really good songs and others that fitted well into situations. This song is one such number, I still enjoy listening to the album.
I know there is a lot of criticism at those songs/films,but it were those fun songs and movies back then who brought happiness to europe. That grey thinking europe saw Elvis in his hawaiian shirts singing to pretty women on beautifull beaches. Elvis will here always be associated with hawaii, because of this. He brought the joy here when people needed it.
