Reviews

Released on the Czech Memory records label is an unreleased audience recording of Elvis' March 23, 1975 Dinner Show, recorded from the audience in Las Vegas.

Design

The cover of this CD looks like very much like the "Spring Fever" CD from the Unicorn label. A dark cover with a picture in a circle and the title in a basic font, 3D style. As mentioned in the review of "Las Vegas Moonlight" we have seen better by the Czech fan club.

Content

The song "Big Boss Man" is the first track that really rocks on this album. "It's Midnight" is a nice performance, but - listening on a PC - the sound doesn't really sound o.k. Elvis talks a lot, but listening to it is less pleasant than watching and experiencing it while attending the show. "Promised Land" has the tempo, but unfortunately not the right feel. On the rockers it is not so clear, but on the slower songs you hear the audio quality is not quite good. This made us skip some of the songs to spare our ears. "My Boy" is worth mentioning, but there it ends for us.

The bonus tracks from April 26, 1975, recorded from the audience in Tampa, Florida sound much better; both the audio and Elvis. "Help Me" is a complete performance, not talking during the song by Elvis. On "Burning Love" Elvis is clearly up front, he has some troubles with the higher notes, but manages to finish the song. The second version of "My Boy" is an average version, but at least Elvis voice isn't pitched as high as the first version of this CD. But just like on "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" Elvis voice isn't as low as we want it to sound, these songs ask for a low masculine voice. The CD closes with the "Hawaiian Wedding Song", Elvis surely tries, but fails to our ears, when compared to the original, we know he can do better.

Conclusion

This is a release for the collectors. The concert has its premiere on CD on this release, but if you want a good show from this engagement you enjoy listening to, get the Follow That Dream release "Big Boss Man".
