Two shows that day. First Elvis appeared at the Vigor High School, Mobile, Alabama, at 10.00 a.m. where the show was ended after half an hour because Elvis told an off-color joke, which the principal of the school didn't appreciate.
At 3.30 and 7.30 p.m. Elvis performed at the Greater Golf States Fair, Prichard, Alabama.
Elvis arrived in New York and rehearsed there with the Jordanaires.
The Colonel concluded a deal with RCA, permitting them to use Elvis's name for promoting a record player called the Victrola phonogram.

On the set of Stay Away Joe Elvis told a reporter from Cosmopolitan magazine that he still had a lot to learn about acting. " Much of his progress, he says, comes from hanging out with real good professionals, and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't pick up on something from the other actors."
