Elvis gave a party at his hotel before going out on maneuvers. He sang and played guitar for Margit Buergin and other friends while a crowd collected in the street below. Around this time he received a call from Dee Stanley, the wife of an American sergeant stationed in Frankfurt, inviting him to dinner with her family. Elvis did not go, but Vernon accepted the invitation later, while Elvis was on maneuvers.
