Love Me Tender

Aug 20, 2002

The DVD is presented with a new cover with just a dreamy movie shot of Elvis. This matches the release of two other classics, ‘Flaming Star’ and ‘Wild In The Country’. The inside contains an overview of the chapters, presented in the same style as the movie. The disc is a picture disc, also with the same image on it.

The navigation menu is clear. It offers chapter, audio and subtitle (English Dolby and Spanish Mono) options all with a different photo. As extra feature this disc contains the theatrical trailer and a Spanish version for ‘Love me Tender’ and the trailers for ‘Flaming Star’ and ‘Wild In The Country’.

The American Civil War caused much bitterness which was prolonged well after hostilities had ceased. In his film debut, Elvis stars in this action filled romance, set in the aftermath of this war. After hearing his older brother (Richard Egan) has been killed in combat, a young Texas farmer (Elvis) marries the man’s sweetheart (Debra Paget). But then his brother returns, sparking a bitter sibling rivalry and tragic confrontations with Union soldiers. The soundtrack features four Presley hits, including the title song.

The remastered image quality is great and since the film is presented in anamorphic widescreen (aspect ratio 2.35:1).

Finally this classic Elvis movie was released on the digital format. Fox really paid attention to the presentation of the outside and the movie itself. Get this one in your collection.
