Live From Fort Wayne Indiana

February 23, 2006 | Music
Released by the IF label is the first concert recording in what appears to be a live series. Together with this album the label released another live concert from Las Vegas.

Design

When the first images of this CD appeared on-line we were scared a bit. But now we hold these releases in our hand the design is very simple, but very good at the same time. The design is used consequently throughout the print work, forming a whole. All typography is done the same style; we could only find one capital (in “American” on the entire CD. The four pictures are well chosen, especially Elvis performing with his cape still on isn’t an image you find too often, but we miss the liner notes to really complete this information.

Content

In regard to the name of the label we can only say “if” the content was as good as the design. This audience recording of Elvis June 12, 1972 performance is not a good one. Elvis is audible somewhere in the back. The best thing we can say the audio “quality” is consequent throughout the entire release.

As for the concert, it actually is a nice up-beat show to listen to. We know Elvis was in great shape and spirit through his four historical performances in New York entertaining over 80.000 fans and a handful of celebrities. Elvis doesn’t sound tired, delivers good versions, doesn’t talk too much but still interact with the audience.

Conclusion

IF it wasn’t for the bad quality of the audience recording this release would have made a fun concert to play every now and then, but fortunately we have two releases from the same week from The Garden in New York.

About the design: that's actually a copy of the Live From Texas series by New West Records, that's isues TV shows by a lot of artists from Austin City Limits.

Typical show from these days with Reconsider Baby which he did 3 times in 1972. The show itself isn´t bad...nice idea..
