James Burton's Busy Week

March 25, 2001 | Other
Last Monday, March 19, he was inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame in the "Sidemen"-category, a well-deserved honour, which should be followed for the rest of the TCB-band soon. In its second year the Sidemen-category contains two of Elvis' musicians already. Last year Scotty Moore was the first. Megan Murphy sent us two great pictures taken in New York by her brother Jim Murphy (thanks for them!).

"The recognition is really exciting and also surprising," Burton says. " I didn't know anything about it until my friend [producer] Andy Paley called me after hearing the news on television. The Hall of Fame called to congratulate me a little later. I feel like I won an Oscar or something. It's wonderful."

Because of his induction James was special guest at David Letterman's TV-show. After taping this show James Burton hurried back to Europe, where Elvis The Concert is touring at the moment. Gladly for the Dutch fans he was back in time for the first of the two Rotterdam shows. Only the French fans had to do The Concert without James.
